“The best place to stay in Cardiff”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

We chose the best place to stay in Cardiff with a quiet location about 15 minutes walk from city center through beautiful Bute Park. The rooms were large, bathrooms modern and service was excellent. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance as well.

Excellent hotel to stay in Cardiff. We are Cardiff residents and stayed here to enjoy the city through visitors eyes, we were very impressed the hotel was warm and friendly and very peaceful it had an elegant old world charm. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious, the hotel had a convenient car park and we walked into town and back easily.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Cardiff.

Turned in late after our wedding. We were taken to the honeymoon suite. Champagne on ice, strawberries, rose petals scattered around and formed into the shape of a heart on the bed. I could easily fall in love with this life style. The four poster bed was just heavenly.
The hotel was decorated in a style that reminded me of a traditional Welsh home. Tasteful displays of china and a Welsh lady doll on the mantle piece. There was even an offer of laverbread on the menu. All in all, it was a superb end to what had already been a wonderful day.

Really a cross between a small private hotel and a B & B. Having said that this was indeed a very quaint, cosy and friendly house. Easy to find if you have a sat-nav (gps) with good parking on the streets and in their own car park at the back. The reception on arrival was very friendly and helpful and she even helped to carry the cases up the stairs. Be warned there are many stairs to the top level but its worth it just to experience the wonderful room we were given - clean well furnished with all you require. The bathroom is not the largest you will come across but having been in some dirty dingy places before this one was a revaluation and everything worked. There is a very pleasant reading room downstairs and a bar.
This area of Cardiff (Pontcanna) is a really nice area with restaurants and bars not far away and we were recommended where to go. When we came back, we asked about going down town and the receptionist said we needed a cab (which she duly ordered) and suggested where we should go and again we were not disappointed. After a good night sleep we had an amazing Welsh breakfast. If you bear in mind that this is a guest house and not a hotel you wil not be disappointed.

Room Tip: If you can make it up and down stairs take room 305

We had a weekend in Cardiff, staying in this Victorian house, along a tree lined main road. The furniture inside was in keeping with the era of the property. The rooms were spacious with en-suite and a powerful shower. Bed was comfy, although it had a sheet and blanket and not a duvet, (but again it was in keeping with the theme of the property). Breakfasts were really delicious with lots of fresh fruit and a choice from the menu of cooked meals. We arrived during a heat-wave, so the fans placed in the room were a lovely touch, enabling us to keep cool.

The hotel was on a bus route and a 5 minute walk on the road, a bus took us to the City Centre where we explored the shops and pubs. We hopped on another bus to the Bay area and had a boat taxi ride around the bay, which was a nice experience. Buy a day-saver on the bus and you can use it all day, riding on as many buses as you wish.

The bay area on an evening was buzzing with lots of people. There was street entertainment and we had an enjoyable night out, walking round, eating in a pub and listening to the singing. A taxi cost £7 to get there.

We found a park within 5 minutes walk on the road, where there was a children's play area and a coffee shop, where we walked to one morning before breakfast and sat and had a cuppa and a chat with the owner, who was very friendly.

We had a very enjoyable weekend in Cardiff, and found most of the people really friendly and helpful.

A lovely big room, 302, and bed - beautiful bathroom with all the fripperies, even soap with a dragon on the wrapper.
Rarely do you get tissues these days but there was a full box supplied. Very nice breakfast don't think i'd have lavabread again - but you have to try it! Buffet of cereals etc was super. Parking at the back was fine but when we returned after our evening out we found the barrier across which we had not been informed of and we had to park on the main road. They had tried their best to combat the heat and there was a large fan in our room. We had already brought our own but it was thoughtful and prepared from the hotel. Bed extremely comfortable.
Would definately stay here again and recommend it. We paid £100 for the room and ourselves which I thought was a bit pricey but you are within walking distance of the Millenium Stadium which possibly accounts for it.

Room Tip: 302 is on the top floor but at the back so you do not get road noise. Nice, big room with nice bathr...

Thank you for your review, glad you tried the laver bread, not to everyone's taste but I think it is great to try.

Our car-park does not close until 11:30pm and we would have only been too happy to have
re-opened had you have let us know!

Lincoln House looks forward to welcoming you again soon!
