First, what this hotel isn't. It isn't part of a global chain. It doesn't have a lift. The rooms do not have (or need) air conditioning.
Now what it is. It is an excellent place to stay in the centre of Cardiff. You will never find more helpful management and staff. The breakfast is wonderful.
I was a hotelier's nightmare - a guest who checks in at midnight and says he does not know how long he will be staying. My business in Cardiff dragged on and on and my 3 night booking was extended day by day to 7 nights. No problem! I was made very welcome.

I've been staying at the Lincoln House hotel for the last 6 or 7 years. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting or working in Cardiff. A genuine family run hotel, always perfectly clean, safe and beautifully decorated with friendly staff who genuinely want to make your stay a pleasant one. The hotel itself is within walking distance of the city centre and the beautiful Sophia Gardens. The breakfasts are first class and although the hotel doesn't serve evening meals, you're spoiled for choice with local restaurants so it doesn't matter. Although I usually visit for business I have also taken family breaks at the Lincoln House too.

Stayed for 2 nights in the four poster bedroom. Lovely room, no complaints other than the shower cubicle was on the small side. Lovely location with the city centre being a 15 minute walk away through the pleasant Sophia Gardens along the banks of the River Taff. The staff/owners were very friendly and accomodating and the breakfast was absolutely superb, my wife particularly liked the wonderful fresh fruit salad. Three decent pubs all within a 2 minute walk from the hotel on Cathedral road.Easy to see why this hotel is currently the top rated hotel for cardiff on trip advisor.

My husband and I have just come back from a 2 night stay at the hotel. We were originally booked in for one night but due to getting to the hotel late due to traffic asnd enjoying Cardiff so much we decided to stay an extra night.

The hotel is convenient to all of the attractions and Cathedral Road in my opinion is one of the most beautiful in Cardiff. The owner recommended a scenic walk through the park behind the hotel, by the river taff, through the back grounds of the Castle and onto the main street which was beautiful. All of the staff were friendly and the breakfast was plentiful.

We stayed in a kingsize room for the first night and a standard double for the second. I was slightly confused though as both rooms cost the same amount £85 per night. I would definately recommend going for the kingsize room as it was really roomy and elegant. The second smaller standard double room was very hot with no AC. We attempted to open the window but due to being on the main road it was then too noisy to sleep. Therefore, I would recommend that if you are a light sleeper to ask for a room not facing the main road.

The hotel is beautiful and cosy and all in all was a great experience. Would definately recommend.

I stay in hotels often for business and usually find that there is always something I have to "put up with". This hotel is perfect, nothing needs improving, everything works, it is clean, quiet, the rooms are brilliant and the breakfast caters for all needs, using good quality products. There is a high level of attention to detail including the towels, and bathroom products. The free Wifi in the bedrooms works well, and to top it off the staff and owners are warm and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel for either business or pleasure, try it you will not be disappointed.

What a pleasure to stay two nights at Lincoln House. We had two rooms booked - both doubles, one for a couple and one for a single. Upon arrival we were greeted by the desk clerk, checked-in efficiently, and given the door code for entry to the building. We checked-out the rooms and found the double for two to be somewhat nicer than the double for one. The former had a more space and a fireplace. But the latter was still a very nice double room. Although the hotel has no A/C, fans were provided in each room. The rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. Road noise, even on the front of the hotel was minimal. Breakfast the next morning was, how shall I say....formidable? I think my omelette must have had at least four eggs. Large servings of everything were offered, cooked to order, and accompanied by a range of fresh fruit, pastries, and cereal. One of the best hotel breakfasts I've had.
The location of the property was slightly away from the centre of town and made for a 10 or 15 minute walk into the centre, but we knew that when we booked. We took cabs back to the hotel after dinner and drinks each night.
The in house bar was comfortable and very well priced.
Overall, a great place to stay and one of the better small hotels I've visited. Staff from the front desk, to the dining room, to the maids seemed genuinely friendly and interested that we enjoy our visit.
