When we arrived, I thought we were the only ones staying in the hotel - it was so quiet and we didn't hear a peep all night! But at breakfast it was obvious the hotel was almost full. We had travelled all day, and a good night's sleep was just what we wanted! The breakfast was good - a modest selection of fruit, pastries, cereal, and good cooked options. The person serving breakfast was the same person watching the front desk, so the service for both was a bit breezy and flustered, but otherwise friendly and courteous. THe bed was comfortable, and bathroom somewhat small but serviceable and had all the things we needed. The hotel is within a 10-min walk of Cardiff Castle. The car park in the back was free to park our car, and there is a large pretty park within a block's walk of the hotel - great for a long stroll.

Just returned from a three day break and were delighted with this guest house.
we had a four poster room at the front which was nice and spacious and worth the extra.
Dont expect opulence but neither are you paying sky high prices. Everywhere was bright and spotlessly clean and staff were pleasant but not intrusive. Also private parking.
Lovely breakfast, cold buffet with cheese, fruits, yoghurts and welsh cakes plus a very hearty cooked breakfast. Certainly set us up for the day.
Delightful 20 minute walk through the park into the city center or a £5 taxi ride.

We were dropping our daughter off for freshers week at Cardiff University and stayed overnight here. Like a large private town house, two semis have been knocked into one. The decor is in keeping with the age of the victorian hotel but needs updating. The rooms are comfortable, we had one overlooking the carpark at the back of the hotel but not special.
The staff are very welcoming and went out of their way to suggest things, routes, help in finding things in cardiff. breakfast was very nice and homecooked with special seeweed/oatcakes a speciality to have with a welsh cooked breakfast, delicious. The price of £88 per night including breakfast made this a pleasant and reasonable stay< we visited the cheese festival whilst in cardiff, held in the castle, this food, beer and cheese fayre is well worth visitng.

First, what this hotel isn't. It isn't part of a global chain. It doesn't have a lift. The rooms do not have (or need) air conditioning.
Now what it is. It is an excellent place to stay in the centre of Cardiff. You will never find more helpful management and staff. The breakfast is wonderful.
I was a hotelier's nightmare - a guest who checks in at midnight and says he does not know how long he will be staying. My business in Cardiff dragged on and on and my 3 night booking was extended day by day to 7 nights. No problem! I was made very welcome.

I've been staying at the Lincoln House hotel for the last 6 or 7 years. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when visiting or working in Cardiff. A genuine family run hotel, always perfectly clean, safe and beautifully decorated with friendly staff who genuinely want to make your stay a pleasant one. The hotel itself is within walking distance of the city centre and the beautiful Sophia Gardens. The breakfasts are first class and although the hotel doesn't serve evening meals, you're spoiled for choice with local restaurants so it doesn't matter. Although I usually visit for business I have also taken family breaks at the Lincoln House too.

Stayed for 2 nights in the four poster bedroom. Lovely room, no complaints other than the shower cubicle was on the small side. Lovely location with the city centre being a 15 minute walk away through the pleasant Sophia Gardens along the banks of the River Taff. The staff/owners were very friendly and accomodating and the breakfast was absolutely superb, my wife particularly liked the wonderful fresh fruit salad. Three decent pubs all within a 2 minute walk from the hotel on Cathedral road.Easy to see why this hotel is currently the top rated hotel for cardiff on trip advisor.

My husband and I have just come back from a 2 night stay at the hotel. We were originally booked in for one night but due to getting to the hotel late due to traffic asnd enjoying Cardiff so much we decided to stay an extra night.

The hotel is convenient to all of the attractions and Cathedral Road in my opinion is one of the most beautiful in Cardiff. The owner recommended a scenic walk through the park behind the hotel, by the river taff, through the back grounds of the Castle and onto the main street which was beautiful. All of the staff were friendly and the breakfast was plentiful.

We stayed in a kingsize room for the first night and a standard double for the second. I was slightly confused though as both rooms cost the same amount £85 per night. I would definately recommend going for the kingsize room as it was really roomy and elegant. The second smaller standard double room was very hot with no AC. We attempted to open the window but due to being on the main road it was then too noisy to sleep. Therefore, I would recommend that if you are a light sleeper to ask for a room not facing the main road.

The hotel is beautiful and cosy and all in all was a great experience. Would definately recommend.
