“Fantastic, luxurious, rural, yet close to lots of exciting places to visit”
Reviewed 5 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This cottage is beautiful, and so well appointed. The kitchen has a flagstone floor, shaker style cupboards, a dining area and a wood-burning stove, as well as a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, plus all the usual electrical appliances. The lounge area has leather sofas, wooden floors, and a beautiful chest as an oversized coffee table, which is full of puzzles and games, and there are also dvd's and books to borrow. The master bedroom has a beautiful sleigh bed, and stairs leading to the cragg loft-which is usable as a sleeping area for children, and such an unusual thing to have-along with the decorative plough on a balcony! A door opens straight onto a raised deck, ideal to breakfast or relax on, and below the deck is a private garden, with a picnic bench, and a steam running through it! There is also a twin bedroom, with metal bedsteads, and a large family bathroom.
The cottage is on a farm with so much history, and the owners have compiled an interesting file about the former monastery on the site, the 17th century gatehouse, and the current building. There is also a file about local places of interest, walks and recommendations for eating out.
Jon and Sian are very friendly, and leave a lovely welcome box-including wine!
We have teenagers and found the cottage ideal, and so much to do in the area, including the amazing Castell Coch, St Fagan's National History Museum, the Dan yr Ogof show caves, and Rhossili Bay-voted the best beach in the UK . Cardiff bay and the Dr. Who Experience are only 8 miles away, and of course Barry Island is a must after "Gavin and Stacy".
I have already recommended this stylish, luxurious and great value property to friends, and would urge you to visit too!

“Fabulous Cottage/Fabulous Destination”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

The cottage was really well presented and warm. The views were stunning and the owners were very helpful and welcoming. There was a really lovely welcome pack on arrival and lots of information about both the cottage itself, the surrounding areas and sights and activities. Couldn't have wished for anything more.

“Llanvithyn Cottage was everything we could have wished for.”
Reviewed 13 March 2014 for a stay in March 2014

We feel so fortunate to have found this gem for our family reunion. The location was perfect, tucked away in the country with fabulous views, yet within easy striking distance of Cardiff, Cowbridge and the coast. The facilities and the attention to detail were excellent, Jon and Sian had catered for our every need, from the log fire and welcome pack on arrival to the overall cleanliness and comfort of the cottage, a real home from home. We shall certainly be booking again.

“Happy New Year”
Reviewed 11 March 2014 for a stay in December 2013

The photos of this wonderful cottage do not do it justice. My wife is always very reluctant (from past experience) to let me book anything. Hard to please even her jaw dropped. Amazing size, comfortable and was a very relaxing place to stay for a week. Near to Cardiff, so much to do. Loved it so much booked again for next New Year. My eight and five year old boys loved the room upstairs. Can’t even write a review that does enough to state how great it was. The owners were so nice and helpful. Could not fault at all. Book and you will love it !!!!

“Excellent value in a beautiful rural environment”
Reviewed 4 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This was the first cottage we ever rented, and it was a bull's eye score. A very nice cottage with ancient history in a beautiful place, 20 minutes from central Cardiff. We had a wonderful week, and even the weather was excellent for the purpose of our stay. The cottage is very well maintained, has everything you can wish for, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Excellent value.

Liked best: Large kitchen with dining table where we all tended to congregate.
Liked least: Could have done with waste paper basket and a small table/surface in main bedroom - but this is being fairly picky.
