Welcome to Wales Marriott style! My stay was only overnight, but I was impressed with what I saw. The location is close to Cardiff Central Station, which is ideal for moving about. Easily visible from the main entrance. Look right!

The rooms were clean & very comfortable. My room (718) was on the 7th floor, and looked out over the rear of the hotel. Nice & quiet. Despite the traffic in the street below

Breakfast was a feast, and coupled with attentive members of staff

Recommended! :)

Room Tip: Higher floor for those quieter nights

This place is a rip off and awful for business travelers. No Internet in the rooms and expensive Internet in the lobby. I also got double charged for Internet. The rooms are average and parking is outrageous. I will go back to Cardiff, but will avoid this disappointing hotel.

We just returned from a weekend there, and used Marriott points to book our room here. Location was a couple blocks from the train station, perfect for sightseeing and some shopping, room was quite comfortable (was on the back side), staff was accommodating, and we enjoyed it. We ate one dinner there and lunch just before we went to the train station, both of which were quite good and well prepared. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Booked directly with hotel website 2 months in advance requesting a high floor room. On arrival I was allocated a room on the 2nd floor. I was told by Jo the receptionist that a high floor room may be available later so I left the luggage in the room on the 2nd floor. Had to be really assertive to get her attention.

Half an hour later I was called and told that a room was available on 6th floor. Not exactly high but better than the 2nd.

What is the point of asking guests if they have any requests and then not being bothered to honour them when I booked 2 months in advance? I wish I had been told in advance so that I had the option to cancel.

Not happy. Poor customer service and the hotel staff need to up their game. Will not stay again.

Room Tip: If you can get one rooms on a high floor will ensure that noise from the bars outside will not distu...

We stayed at Marriot Cardiff for the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this city. We got a great price for the weekend by booking via one of the online hotel search websites that are advertised on the TV.

We travelled by car and had problems finding the hotel, the postcode was not recognised by our sat nav as the road that the hotel on is not normally accessible to traffic, this combined with the one way caused us a few problems. We found entering Mill Lane via Callaghan Square direction the only way. I would strongly recommend checking it out on map before hand. We met another couple when we were parking who use to live in Cardiff and even they had problems. The car park when we found it, though expensive at £14 per day, was convenient.

Check in was very efficient, I emailed in advance for a high floor but initially we were given a room on the 4th. I explained that we would prefer a high floor and we were upgraded to an executive room on the 9th. We declined the offer of an executive lounge package for £50 per day as we have already brought with us some wine/champagne so did not think it would be worth it for us.

The room was perfect; it had plenty of storage space, was clean and well maintained, tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen interactive TV. The bathroom was nicely designed, clean with plenty of towels. The room was serviced daily to an extremely high standard, everything was replenished, towels, toiletries, refreshments.

Our only slight complaint was the breakfast; apart from being expensive the food was not to a high standard. Very poor compared with other hotels we have stayed in including Premier, a four star hotel should do better. We had no problem getting a table at about 8.30 but we noticed long queues when we were leaving.

The staff were excellent, we cannot fault the service provided in all parts of the hotel.
Cardiff itself is a lovely city for a weekend visit. The Marriot is right in the centre and we particularly chose it for this reason, we wanted to walk rather than use the car.
The first evening we had a meal in Carluccio’s which is across the road from the hotel, as always a lovely meal. The second night we went to Greenwood & Brown on Quay Street and shared a beautiful chateaubriand. On the last night we went to Giovanni’s, what a mistake, my husband’s main was inedible and ‘welsh’ lamb poor, staff were more interested in playing with the television than providing good food and service, we left part way through, we should have gone to Jamie’s across the way!

During the day we enjoyed excellent shopping, exploring the city and the bay. We also took a ride along the coast to explore the Methra Mawyr sand dunes and took a ride back over the hills and through the Rhonda valley where we found a really good local community café for lunch. On the right as you drive through the Rhonda back down towards Cardiff.

We did not experience the noise that some reviewers have commented on. Our room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the railway and as said before on a high floor. We could actually see the bay in the distance. The double glazing effectively kept out any noise from trains. Rooms at the front on lower floors could be affected by noise from bars across the road.

Room Tip: High floors on the back are not affected by noise from local bars.

Situated in the heart of the city and the heart of the action.
Rooms well equipped and spotlessly clean... Good Health club
and a very fulfilling breakfast... Bar for the evening has an excellent outlook on the Cardiff bars nightlife. John Lewis and the shopping centre within a minutes walk... All staff very friendly and helpful.
Only one small problem be aware they charge £15.00 for internet access!!!

Room Tip: Make sure you are not placed next to the service doors as they bang all morning ..... however hotel...
