Stayed at this hotel in March as an anniversary treat, booked through booking.com. On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade - no. We were then told that there was no rooms available for us, just one made for disabled access, are we sure we didn't want to upgrade? We were then asked of we wanted to pay for access to the VIP lounge/area, something similar - no. So we were given access for free.
Our room was fine, the only real difference was a wide sliding door into the bathroom. This wouldn't have been an issue usually except we felt that we'd been given the room, close to the lift, as some sort of punishment for not paying to upgrade. We had already paid around £80 for a room, why would we want to pay more? If we'd wanted a suite of some sort we would have paid for one.
It put a real downer on our night, we didn't complain as we didn't want the added stress and hassle.
The room was comfy and clean, the location is brilliant, right in the centre of town
Breakfast was includes in our deal, the hot buffet wasn't up to much but enjoyed the selection of pasties.
Unfortunately I am definitely not planning on going back.

We just stayed at this hotel for a few days for our son's graduation. Could not fault it really. We travelled by train and it's walking distance from the station. Very convenient for the city centre shops and all other places such as St David's Hall and the cinema. Welcoming reception, Clean comfortable room, good breakfast which is not over the top (how much can you eat at breakfast anyway?), free wifi in the bar and lounge but not in the room. Excellent pool and leisure centre included in the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the higher floors away from the pedestrianized area if requesting quiet.

Just stayed at the cardiff Marriott for 2 nights, there for mix of work/shopping and Bruce Springsteen concert!

Location - cant be beaten. Right on the edge of the St.Davids centre, but with the benefit of its own secure car park. I dont like driving in Cardiff so being able to drive straight to the hotel and leave the car there for 2 days is ideal (car park £15 per day)

Accomodation standard - our room (510) was ideal, not much of a view but unless you go to St.Davids at the Bay (which was a poor stay for us,) thats normal for Cardiff.

Restaurant - evening meal was enjoyable, and breakfast was ample.

Service - smooth and non-problematic.tadium.

Only downsides are cost of wines in restaurant and bar prices strangely high considering there are some decent cheap bars right opposite. Cost of internet - unecessarily hgh when even the cheapest package hotels give free internet access. Aircon in room not very good.

A great couple of days, will def stay at the Marriott from now on.

Room Tip: All rooms very well sound insulated, maybe a room at the front?

I was here on the 31st Dec for the New Year's Eve Party/Ball. The Party was average, 90s Atmosphere but the food was great.
What was most disappointing was the New Year Breakfast Buffet. Very average for the New Year. I stayed there once before and it was a good experience but i had more expections for the New Year.

Staff here are well versed in dealing with guests. We were treated extremely politely and helpfully throughout our short stay. Room was luxurious and very clean with ample toiletries. Reception was polite and helpful although the 8am alarm call failed to materialise. Breakfast was copious, being served buffet style - not my preferred choice but probably unavoidable in a hotel of this size.
The setting was ideal for exploring the city centre, although the (expensive) car park took some finding.
Will certainly visit again, probably on a city break.

We went shopping to Cardiff so thought we would make a night of it. We were greeted at the hotel in a very pleasant way. The rooms were clean and tidy. The only fault was the booklet stated the bar shut at midnight and we got in at 11:30 and it had already closed. Breakfast was great. Location also great x

Stayed here several times. Always clean and friendly. Good choice of food for breakfast. It is very handy for the station and the main shopping area. This is my preferred hotel in Cardiff. If you don't want dinner in the hotel, there are some very good restaurants within a couple of minutes walk.
