Stayed at this hotel in March as an anniversary treat, booked through booking.com. On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade - no. We were then told that there was no rooms available for us, just one made for disabled access, are we sure we didn't want to upgrade? We were then asked of we wanted to pay for access to the VIP lounge/area, something similar - no. So we were given access for free.
Our room was fine, the only real difference was a wide sliding door into the bathroom. This wouldn't have been an issue usually except we felt that we'd been given the room, close to the lift, as some sort of punishment for not paying to upgrade. We had already paid around £80 for a room, why would we want to pay more? If we'd wanted a suite of some sort we would have paid for one.
It put a real downer on our night, we didn't complain as we didn't want the added stress and hassle.
The room was comfy and clean, the location is brilliant, right in the centre of town
Breakfast was includes in our deal, the hot buffet wasn't up to much but enjoyed the selection of pasties.
Unfortunately I am definitely not planning on going back.
