We stayed at the Marriott in Cardiff for a night during the Rugby league World Cup & picked the hotel due to its location which didn't disappoint. It's literally right in the centre, everything that Cardiff has to offer from shops, bars & restaurants are practically on the doorstep and it's within a 5-10min walk of the Millennium Stadium.
The hotel itself is typically Marriott as you'd expect. The service is excellent, the recreational areas have a lot to offer & although a little on the small side, the rooms are clean, comfortable & have everything you'd need for a short stay. There's also parking on site which is an added bonus in a city centre, from what I can remember it's quite reasonably priced at around £10 per night.
I don't know if it's a good or bad point but I find with chain hotels that once inside you could be anywhere in the world, the decor, layout, styling & service is pretty generic no matter which Marriott you visit. Having said that, I'd still recommend the Marriott for a stay in Cardiff, the hotel is sufficient & the location is excellent.
