This out of town Country style Hotel has the best staff anywhere.
The main Hotel rooms are very good although the garden rooms are tired.
Food is excellent and the Spa is of a very high standard.
The treatments are very well priced and the treatment rooms are great.
The pool and the Spa are free to guests and are well looked after.
Golf course is next door and a well laid out course with challenging holes.
A great weekend away in superb surroundings.

Room Tip: Stay in the main Hotel

Stayed over to attend a wedding for the weekend. Our room in the 'Cottages' was spacious, clean and convenient with all the facilities we would expect, while the gardens were really impressive. The wedding went really smoothly and the food and event organisation was first class. The next day we used the spa as part of our package and had a super breakfast before we left. An excellent weekend.

This was the second time this year we've stayed at this hotel as the location is ideal for trips into Cardiff. The hotel itself is set in beautiful grounds and is a popular choice for weddings.

Lots of reviews I'd read before booking bemoaned the outside accommodation, so each time I've booked, I've made sure to request a room within the main hotel building.

On our first visit, despite this request through the online booking system, we were allocated a room away from the main building. However, when I explained this, the duty manager was quick to remedy the situation and offered us an upgrade to a suite in the main building.

On our most recent visit, we were allocated a regular room in the hotel and, while there were some aspects that could have benefited from a little tlc, such as the damp patches in the bathroom, overall the stay was pleasant and the room more than adequate for our needs.

The spa and pool area is well maintained and is probably the primary reason why we would book this hotel again. Pool area and facilities are clean and the food and drink on offer in the adjoining bar means you can easily spend an afternoon relaxing after a lazy lunch.

The good: the staff (which is what gets the hotel 3 rather than 2 stars. Tremendously helpful. Beautiful grounds. Nice leisure facilities. Good breakfast.
The bad: No lift, no bar after 11, no air conditioning and limited openable windows on one of the hottest nights of the year. No fridge/mineral water. All of these were unwelcome discoveries on one of the hottest nights of the year. Wireless access in the room was entirely theoretical. The shower was a trickle alternating between boiling and freezing ie there was in effect no shower. We had ours in the leisure club. We were left one third if a roll of loo paper - with a beautifully folded corner. My son's cottage room smelt if damp.
The ugly: the rooms and public areas other than the leisure club and breakfast room are in urgent need of a facelift.
The hotel needs an upgrade to make it what the wonderful staff and location deserve

Myself and 13 other girls came to the hotel last weekend (Friday 18th July) for a spa day. We enjoyed ourselves so much I thought I would send a review to say thank you.

At the spa we were greeted politely and were made to feel at ease. Although some of the girls were coming later the staff were happy to amend our treatment times to suit us. The treatments ran smoothly and everyone enjoyed them. We were so impressed with the staff and spa we all clubbed together to give a tip which was gratefully received.

We were able to check in our rooms on time and the receptionist was very helpful and answered any questions. We all found our rooms lovely, spacious and clean. Only problem was there was no hot water when showering but when we complained it was sorted straight away.

As we had a 3 course meal included, we were very surprised to see that we had our own little room to ourselves. The table was decorated lovely and there was no problems regarding the food or service. The staff again were very helpful and polite. We found this again when we had breakfast the next day. They also helped us when we wanted group photos.

All in all we had a lovely pleasant time and we would recommend this hotel to everyone. It was fantastic value for what we had and the food and service was outstanding. We paid £79 for a spa day..one treatment, 3 course meal..overnight stay and breakfast in the morning. - A bargain!

The hen has booked her wedding with the hotel for September and we are all looking forward to the day.
Thanks again!

All staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel needs a few repairs but it was a wonderful stay.
The grounds were very well kept, the pool was clean and peaceful. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. I would definitely stay again

based on my experience, i can't recommend this hotel. it is in an excellent place, but is really noisy and we had really important problems. first of all, they say that you can find wifi available in all rooms, but it is not true because was impossible to connect. Second, rooms are really old, and we had a serious problem with electricity, because in the middle of the night, I tried turn on the light of the bath and the plug, close to the bed, exploded with a high risk for our health. Finally, we made a complaint at 2:00 am. If you are not looking for a horrible adventure, this is not your hotel.
