“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2013

Whilst this hotel is well situated close to the stations, stadium & bars/restaurants, I did expect more having paid nearly £400 for one double & one single room & that didn't include breakfast! Our rooms were very small & in the tiny cramped bathroom I had to climb over the toilet to stand in the shower. The toiletries were very meagre too=one small piece of soap, one small sachet of shampoo & shower gel & that was for two people. No shower cap, no biscuits etc. On a positive note the staff were lovely, extremely helpful & the food was good. On arrival we had difficulty finding the entrance which is described as discreet in the hotel guide but it is actually hidden away & then once inside you have to take the lift up to reception. The air conditioning in our room was ineffectual but we were provided with a welcome fan. Considering what we paid I don't think it was worth it, presumably the prices were bumped up because of the Bruce concert?

This is an ideal location for a visit to this city, it is right in the centre of the shopping area and only a short walk away from the castle.
The rooms are clean and reasonably sized. The price is below what you would expect to pay for this location.
The breakfast seemed slightly better than the usual one in this standard of hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful.

It is in one of the best locations to walk to the train station and to the capitol. The only bad thing was there was a maze of corridors before you got to reception. FUN FACT The place were you eat breakfast is where Captain Scott (The first man to go to antarctica) had a party the night before he left. Worth the price, and great rooms

Room Tip: If you go up higher you can get a great view .

The hotel is along the main street in Cardiff so you can't get more central - 5 minute walk from the train and bus station. The entrance is somewhat odd in that you have to go up two floors but theres a lift so not a problem. The reception is bright and staff friendly. There is also a decent sports bar opposite the reception. My room was large, clean and in good order. Even a bottle of free Red wine and a bottle of water. The wine was very good surprisingly. The night was quiet as the room as on one of the top floors - no view to speak of but I wasn't there to sit in my room. Breakfast was good with the main being ordered rather than buffet which i prefer, although no kippers which was a shame. All in all a pleasurable night.

This hotel was the best part of my 11 day vacation. Service was excellent. The staffs were friendly. 24 hours service desk. They helped me with all the local transports as well. Breakfast was good. Rooms were so clean and well serviced. Internet speed was decent. Zero noice disturbances. Overall It was a good place at a very central location and nice atmosphere.

The hotel was very close to the train station and very easy to find. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean! The only bad part was we didn't have any air conditioning so they brought us a fan. It probably wouldn't have been bad if the weather was cooler, but it was high 70F (26-28C) and the windows don't open (safety laws). We stayed 2 nights and they were not able to get the AC fixed. I couldn't get another room because they were fully booked. I would stay again, but just as long as there will be AC during the summer.
