“Not the best of experiences”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

I visited Wagamama restaurant in a Cardiff with my OH after cinema. It was just impromptu visit, so my expectations weren't high in romantic scale etc.
We were seated at the end of one of their long tables by the windows with nice views so that uplifted the experience.
Ordering the food and drinks was confusing as the waiters kept changing and it didn't improve throughout the evening. Drinks were served at separate times. For shared starter we had to ask for extra plates. The main courses came ten minutes apart, so one was getting cold at the time the other one was served. Needless to say we didn't stay for afters and made our exit as soon as possible.
Really poor customer service and disappointing experience. Will not be going back there in a hurry.

“Unbelievable that a chain can achieve the quality they do!”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

This the sixth Wagamama I have been to, in Britain, and they have never failed to impress me.

I usually go about once every three months, and they always seem to have a new dish, well worth sampling. Portions are medium-sized, so if you are hungry, you can have two or three!
A little expensive, but very well worth it!

This is not a criticism - they do tell you that they have 4-5 people all preparing different dishes - so unless you insist, the food may come in any order, depending how busy the person is who is preparing each dish - you might get the soup after the main, but who cares - this way you get completely fresh hot, wonderful food. If you insist, they can hold everything back, and do it all at once but you would be stupid to do that, as it could take an extra 20-30 minutes to prepare.

Being handicapped I have difficulty getting my damaged leg on to some of their long benches, if they are busy, so I always go either early or late!
so I can choose an end of bench!

“Great Food, Intimidating Service!”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

Lovely food, absolutely beautifully presented (everything looked just like it does in the pictures on Wagamama's website!).

We all had a main and a side. One of our sides was a fairly small portion, although we didn't comment on it. A few minutes later a waitress delivered a second portion of the side saying that the head chief had not been happy with the portion size and so had told them to do a second portion, which was a very pleasant surprise!

The mains were a great size, and all tasted really nice. One or two of our group absolutely loathe coriander, which is in a lot of the Wagamama main dishes, but they were happy to keep this out upon request.

The coconut ice cream and passion fruit cheesecake were also delicious.

As for the restaurant itself, it's very clean and done out in a lovely minimalist style.

Our only complaint was the main waitress who happened to serve us, who was very intimidating and somewhat rude, especially to her staff, which we thought was unprofessional. We actually had no complaints of her fellow staff, who were all very approachable and clearly trying their best, which made her attitude towards them even more off-putting.

None of us had had Japenese food before this visit, but we were all impressed by the experience and will definitely be back again.

“Lunch with Kids”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

This is one of our favourite places for lunch when in town with the kids. It has great food and a fantastic service. Even at busy times you do not have to wait long to be seated.
