“Lovely gem hidden next to the main road”
Reviewed 21 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Really great little cottage attached to the owners house. Fantastically located for Cardiff yet not anywhere near the hussle bussle that comes with it.
Don't worry at all about being next the railway line, it isn't a problem or disturbing in anyway and I'm a light sleeper!
Very fairly priced and off-street parking is such a benefit!

“Relaxed atmosphere close to Cardiff”

Working with Robert was very pleasant. The cottage is lovely and private. The WIFI is very good. Our stay was for five nights. We chose this cottage because it is on the outskirts of Cardiff among Welsh people. We were in Wales because of my Welsh ancestry. We are from the US and did not have a car in Cardiff. Transportation into the city was very easy via train. We also took a day trip to the American Museum in Britain in Bath . Getting to St Fagans National History Museum was also easy. Robert was very helpful in taking us to the Cardiff airport.

“Home-like and child-friendly cottage”

We stayed ther for one week with our one year old baby son.
The cottage is really comfortable and clean. Everything what we did need was there.
Rob is a very helpful person, he picked us from the train station and repaired our buggy.
We got very fine cakes and wine for welcome,
We felt us very good in this lovely little cottage. Our baby too because he could crawl everywhere without getting hurt, it is an absolutely chlid-friendly apartment.
Taffs Well is a little village with a supermarket and some pubs, but we travelled very often to cardiff. The train station is not far away.

“Lovely holiday cottage.”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Very clean, tasteful and well-kitted out little cottage. It adjoins the owners house but is very private with its own little garden. Upon arrival we worried that the trains would keep us awake, but not one bit-our baby has never slept so well! Friendly owners that gave us homemade welsh cakes for our journey home. Fab location for climbing Garth mountain and walking along the Taff trail into Cardiff, with good transport links back. The owners were extremely accommodating with us having a little un, the travel cot fitted brilliantly in the bedroom. And what great value! Would definitely recommend it.

“Great little property”

The previous favourable reviews are accurate. The cottage is attached to the landlords house, where Rob and his family (including a large, I believe, Afghan dog) reside. The gardens and driveway are therefore shared. Despite this, you'd struggle to hear any noise being transmitted through the walls.

As previous reviewers have noted Rob's service is excellent, property clean and in the condition you'd expect, and cakes await your arrival.

Local services are good, with local pubs, and a supermarket about 1/4 mile away. That being said I can't say I was particularly enamoured with the village itself - it' would be best described as functional rather than pretty.

It is convenient for Cardiff, and if you bring a bike you can cycle into Cardiff using National Cycle Route 8 which is mainly flat and off road, and follows the river Taff to a large extent right past Cardiff Castle and into Cardiff Bay. You can also cycle in the opposite direct towards Brecon.

The wifi did splutter from time to time - but overall I would recommend this as a place to stay. One tip. As the reviewer Nicola C pointed out in June there is a bit of a challenge in reversing your car out - so either reverse in (there's plenty of room) - then leaving is easy, or park on the road.

Management Response
14 Jul 2014
Thank you for your review, we always appreciate receiving feedback good or bad from our guests. We feel on this occasion there are a number of points we need to respond to.

The property, as stated on the website, has its own private garden which is completely separate from the rest of the house and is gated to prevent any unwanted meetings with our dog Beryl, who is incidentally, a very gentle Newfoundland, and not an Afghan, She is rarely seen by guests unless they wish to meet her.

The village and our house is set at the foot of the beautiful Garth Mountain and within walking distance of the Taff Trail and Castell Coch. We feel that this makes it rather more than 'functional' and this comment is perhaps due to the reviewer only spending just one rainy night with us.

The Wi-fi usually works fine and we have had guests stay for several months, relying on an internet connection for their work with no complaints. That said, if we had been been informed there was an issue we would have addressed it immediately.

Thank you again for your positive comments regarding the service you received. We look forward to welcoming many more guests to our lovely village
