Me and my partner stayed here over Christmas and it was absolutely wonderful. The property is very well equipped, and perfectly sized for a couple! Plenty of storage in the bedroom and kitchen, and there were some basic cleaning supplies and spices already stocked in the kitchen. The hosts were lovely and very accommodating, and even did a few loads of laundry for us during our stay as there was no washer/dryer in the cottage itself. It's very conveniently located, close to the train station and Co-op, but still very rural and quiet. The passing trains do make some noise, but not enough to keep you up at night. My only complaint is that the sofa could probably do with replacing soon, but it didn't detract from how lovely the rest of the property/stay was. Would definitely come again. :)
This cottage's location is perfect for those who want to enjoy everything that offers a city like Cardiff, but don't want to live in the middle of a hectic town. Public transportation into the city centre works very well, by bus and train. Besides, from the cottage you can explore easily the surrounding nature. Plus nice restaurants and pubs in the village.
The hosts are perfectly friendly, welcoming and helpful. They gave us an exact description how to find the house in advance, were keen to help during our stay and allowed us to stay an extra night at a discount.
The cottage itself has everything you need to feel comfortable. Especially the kitchen is very well equipped. The garden is perfect for warm summer evenings. Only the fact that one of the wardrobes in the bedroom was full of clothes bewildered us a little bit. But no worries, there is another empty one. There were just these minus points: The cottage lies right next to the railway, which naturally is a little noisy. Also, there are other sounds made by animals running over the flat roof or coming from the house of the owners that could bother sensitive sleepers in the nights. So sometimes it isn't as quiet as one could expect in view of the rather rural location.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay a lot and can definitely recommend the cottage!
Lovely cosy little garden apartment in a nice village. Well equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. Despite being next to the train line, it is a peaceful retreat. The local pub does great food and the train station is a short walk .
The hosts are accommodating and friendly and on hand if needed.
I would definitely recommend.
We had a very friendly welcome and a marvellous week in Rob's Railway Cottage. The place was a bit hard to find, but finally - with a little help from Robs friends and neighbours we made it. The cottage is hidden behind a few trees, so you wouldn't see it from the road. It contains a combined kitchen and dining-/livingroom, a bathroom and a bedroom, all rooms in perfect condition.
In the kitchen you find a very good oven/oventop, fridge, electric kettle, microwave, enough pots and pans, kitchen helpers and cuttlery, dishes and glasses. A wonderfull equipement for those who prefer to cook their meals themselves. In the dining-/livingarea there is a radio, tv set & dvd player and enough comfortable furniture for two to three persons.
The bathroom is small but complete: bath tub, shower, wash basin and loo. There is a sufficient supply of towels as well and if you need some more, Rob will hand them over.
A good bed & matress, a wardrobe an two bedside tables complete the facilities. A comfortable little place to stay for a while.
On the backside of the cottage there is a private garden, table, two chairs and - surprise - a barbecue, which we didn't use because it was a bit to cool in march. But it was in good condition.
At the first sight a little disadvantageous might be, that only a few yards behind the garden fence there is the railway (that's why "Railway Cottage") and the line is quite busy. But don't bother: within the cottage you hardly notice the trains.
We recommend the Railway Cottage for groups of two who want to explore South Wales, not to forget Cardiff, which is only a few miles away. Two nice pubs and a supermarket are in walking distance.

A truly private and relaxing experience - the annexe was perfect for us and the hosts were amazing. I would absolutely recommend staying here - the views of the Garth are breathtaking.
