“Excellent Location + Excellent Value For Money.”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

I stayed here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night for £65 with no breakfast.
There is no on-site parking, so we parked around the corner in the NCP. Check in was swift and quick.
We were on the 6th floor. Lovely, spacious highly finished bedroom. Gorgeous bathroom with both shower and bath. Nice power shower.
Views were sensational and we were at the top of St Marys Street which was excellent for us as we were going out drinking + dancing!
No issues with any aspect of noise in the hotel and slept well.
Only minor gripe was I had to ask for a discounted parking ticket for the NCP which I found out about on Trip Advisor - staff werent very fourthcoming in mentioning it.
Would definately stay again - one of the better hotels in Cardiff.

Room Tip: The higher up you go...the better the views get!

O did book thiS hotel for father's day weekend, the location is great for shopping and night life, room is very cleaner and confortable, the only down side is that the room is a bit small for a family. Very good shower and bath, we didnt had food there but we had some drinks attune arm staff was very polite.

Stayed here on business, took my wife and son with me. Arrived late on the Friday, the restaurant was closed, but this wasn't a problem as they offered room service. For some reason we were booked into a smoking room (even though we don't smoke) and I am sure this would have been changed if we would have asked, but it was late. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner, but I didn't report it as it was late. Only two teabags in the room, and there was no shampoo. You could also hear the noise from the trains at night,
Breakfast was fine, plenty of it. Location very good for the city. Problem with parking as there is none. However there is some nearby for a price, I think NCP charge about £25 per day and you get a 20% discount. I used the train station car park for £8 per day. Would stay again.

Dear unknownis,

Thank you for your feedback on tripadvisor. I appreciate the time taken to upload your comments. I am disappointed that you experienced some short comings on your recent stay. I have spoken to the Front Office Manager & the Accommodation Manager to ensure that our standards are constantly upheld. As a 3 star hotel we aim to offer a 4 star service & I am truly sorry that your experience was less than our usual expectations.

I hope you will allow us to redeem ourselves in the near future & look forward to welcoming you back then.

Warm Regards,

This hotel is in a great location right in the centre of Cardiff, parking is available not far from the hotel but a nightmare to get to.
The hotel is quite new and everywhere was clean.
Staff that we met were really good nothing a problem
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food in the restaurant
I have already booked for our next visit in November

Room Tip: Ask for a high room overlooking Cardiff Bay, the rest of the views are not great !

Dear Ownski37,

I really appreciate your fantastic review on tripadvisor. As mentioned we are a city hotel close to all central amenities.
We do not have our own car park however we offer a 20% discount in Wood Street NCP car park. For SAT NAV directions the postcode of the car park is CF101EN.

I look forward to welcoming you back in November.

We drove to cardiff using a GPS and drove to our hotel and around the block twice looking for the entrance to the parking...there ISNT any..however after double parking and asking where do we get to park the staff referred to a carpark across the road which was 15 pound per night or 25 pound per week and as we were staying 3 nights it worked out better value to take the weekly rate although we found out later if we parked outside and not undercover it was only 5 pound per night. Not the best situation if itis raining in old wales carting suitcases across the road. Thats probably the only bad thing to say about this hotel.
The Maldron is a relatively new hotel ideal if you wish to base yourself in Cardiff central or go to the Millenium stadium for a rugby or football match, if you are are coming to cardiff by train it is perfect as it is only a hop skip and jump from the railway station.
All rooms are modern the beds extra comfortable, rooms spotlessly clean and surprisingly no room noise internally or externaly even being so close to the rail station. the hotel has a very nice restaurant for breakfast and meals and although some comments on tripadvisor criticised breakfast we found it excellent, all retaurant staff were excellent although we found the reception staff to be inexperienced and had difficulty answering questionns on local things such as restaurants places of interest ,transport etc,Anygood tradesman should know their tools of trade and so it is with hospitality you get a job somewhere you make a point of knowing your home turf and its surround. just a small criticism as if they dont know where theyre going what hope does a new travellor to town have.
Overall a great experience including a trip to the rhhonda valley and cardiff city football match to see one of the classic goals of all time scored by their skipper Hudson. Definitely recommend the Maldron to anyone visiting Cardiff

Dear glenroben,

Thank you for your excellent review on tripadvisor. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us. I have reverted your comments back to our Front Office Manager, Patrick Hogan, who is currently under going training with our Reception team to ensure there local knowledge is up to date and well versed. It is important for our entire team to know their surroundings and we will rectify this short coming.

As mentioned we do not have an onsite car park but do offer discounts to guests in the local NCP. As a city centre hotel with excellent transport links in & out of the city we try to offer alternative modes of transport to Cardiff.

I hope to welcome you back to the Maldron Hotel in the near future.

Booked this hotel and was not disappointed, the hotel is very new and modern looking. Although the hotel is near the train station we didn't hear any train noise or any noise from traffic or passers by. Would Definatley recommend this hotel to anyone wanting value for money.
