The hotel was lovely. A fantastic place to stay that was very clean and had a beautiful view of the city. They were very helpful, when we mentioned that we had noisy people staying in the room next door they moved us to another room and gave us complimentary drinks at the bar. Will definitely stay here again and will consider this as 'The hotel I always stay at when I'm in Cardiff'

I have stayed in many hotels but Maldron Cardiff is by far one of the better hotels. Other well known hotels not 100 yards away cannot come near the effort that the staff here put in to make ones stay comfortable.
Free wifi, comfortable beds, good selection for breakfast, these are all things that will draw me back to Maldron time and again.

Stayed for a couple of nights on a Maldron 2-day city break. A great hotel if arriving by train, with the station next door. However, arriving by car is not one of the hotels better features. Having to use the nearby NCP car park. The hotel does discount the charge, but it’s still a £9 a night extra.

Very efficient and friendly check-in. Had a room on 5th floor, and as part of the city break there were chocolates and a bottle of wine in the room, very nicely presented and very welcoming. Floor overlooking rail line. Didn’t get troubled by train noise on first night, but not so good on second. Would say it would only trouble a very light sleeper. Comfortable bed with breathable mattress protector, none of your rubbish plastic coated protectors here.

Good sized TV with a range of channels. The remote didn’t work at first, but was working on second day, so it looks as if the battery had been changed by housekeeping without having to be asked. Plus, it was good to find pretty speedy free wifi available in the room.

On the downside, the heating was virtually non existent in the room. It relied on the the aircon which refused to give any heat whatsoever, and being February, a little heat could have made the room a lot more comfortable. I know some aircon controls can be difficult to understand, but the room documents were quite specific on how use the control. If we had been staying longer, we would have mentioned it to reception and no doubt we would have been offered another room. But for two nights it didn't seem worth the hassle.

The bathroom was ok, but the basin was pathetically small. Hair washing was made difficult by not having a handheld shower-head. Breakfast was very nice, with a good selection of all the popular cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. The cooked selection had the usual fare, all of nice quality. We don't usually eat in the evening, but as it was available from 5.30pm and one evening meal was included as part of the deal, we thought we'd give it a try. It was all very nice. The staff were very attentive and the food was good and the restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.

In conclusion, the best things about the hotel was the location and the always helpful staff. Every enquiry and request was handled promptly with good humour and a smile.

Dear Jayare14,

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay at the Best Western Plus Maldron Hotel Cardiff.
I am delighted you enjoyed your stay overall and found both our staff & location to be of a good standard. I will pass on your kind comments to the team.
As a proactive team focused on providing an excellent stay to all our guests I am confident that had you notified reception of your queries in relation to the heating, a duty manager would have resolved this immediately.
As a three star city centre hotel, we offer a 50% discount which we have negotiated with the local NCP car park, as it is not our own car park we are unable to offer any further reduction on this rate however this rate is good value in comparison to our competitor hotels .
I hope you will consider staying with us again in the future.

Kind Regards,
Linda Folan
Assistant Front Office Manager

This is my third visit to this hotel in the last 8 weeks. The hotel is centrally located in Cardiff right on the edge of the town centre and handy for the bus station. Receptions staff are friendly and helpful and were willing on hand to help with queries. The rooms are very modern and spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities. The en-suite facilities are very good with a great power shower and a bath. The main corridors are well maintained and regulalry painted so it always look fesh and modern - other hotels take note! You get a real sense of a well maintained property. The only down-side is that the walls are very thin and the noise lvels from other rooms is really quite bad. It is such a pity as this lets down what is otherwise an excellent hotel. That said I would still recommend it as a good value for money, well maintained city hotel.

The hotel is located next to Cardiff Central rail Station and 200 meters from Cardiff shopping arcades and near the Cradiff Castle. The entrance was quite difficult to locate as the Brazilian Restaurant in front dominate the approach from the railway station. Suggest that there is proper signboard to guide guests to the hotel entrance. Checked in was fast. The hotel was newly furnished and everything was in tip top condition. There was no major fault with the hotel.

We spent one night and enjoyed the modern appearance, efficient staff, and comfortable beds. The staff were efficient, and the price was very reasonable. It is very close to Cardiff Central station, and the stadium, and the shops. Would choose it again if coming to Cardiff.
