“FAIRYTALE CASTLE”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014

On 30 July we went with friends to visit Castell Coch. The castle is straight out of a fairy tale with rooms to match. Originally a holiday home for the 3rd Lord of Bute and designed by William Burgess.

It is the height of Victorian Gothic splendour, with heavily decorated rooms, which lend ears to the imagination. It is beautifully kept and in lovely order. In truth it takes one's breath away. One feels that you should walk round in Medieval costume, so you can fit in.

It is a very inspiring place I sat and wrote six poems here, whilst just taking in the lovely rooms and decorations.

If you have ever wanted to be in a fairy tale, then this is the place to be!

“A spontaneous day out! ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

A lovely afternoon out. The grounds are lovely with plenty of walks. Inside the castell is beautiful with little rooms to explore, although people say its not big enough for the price, for me it was enough, especially with a little boy with special needs. My youngest( Whose 10) enjoyed have the "podcatcher" to have his own personal audio tour, a clever idea!

This beautiful Fairy Tale Castle is also the setting for some iconic Dr Who scenes. It is a wonderful family day out.

“Bring back the past”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2014

After having a hearty homemade pie at The Station in the quiet village of Cefn Coed it was just 15 minute drive to this restored fairytale Castle.Castle Coch is impressive in everyway.Just like the one syou see in Austria. As well as the Castle and its courtyard there is 4 lovely walks one of which has carvings along the way to keep the little ones interested and all the walks are indicated on a map in how long they will roughly take Castle Coch is also situated on the Taff Trail for you W alkers and Cyclists.
