Llandaff cathedral is a beautiful church to visit for a look around if you are close by. Unfortunately there is no cafe on the site so have a wander up the hill to Jasper's for tea and cake.

“Beauty and tranquility in my childhood and now”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

I visited this cathedral frequently as a child on my way back from Llandaff Fields baths.
It gave me a lifelong interest in cathedtrals and its setting in a hollow lends itself to a kind
of peace and beauty you do not get in big cathedrals like York or Canterbury.

The christ by Epstein was controversial but I always thought it was quite beautiful as were
the stained glass windows. I visited on the open day for Friends of the Cathedral and
a kind lady invited me to partake of the afternoon tea she had prepared for the Friends.
What kindness!

Built by the Normans, fought over in the Civil War and bombed in the Second World
War there is plenty of history as well as beauty to enjoy.

After visiting the cathedral do walk around the Close once again a tranquil place.
Dr Who fans might recognise it as a location for an episode featuring a criminal
alien.

There is limited parking at the bottom and some parking in the streets nearby
and the entrance to the Close,

No visit to Cardiff is complete without a visit to the cathedral and I shall be there
again on my next visit.

“Hidden gem close to the city centre and well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

Time for contemplation and reflection, keen on history and architecture, want somewhere peaceful yet with plenty of amenities around so you can take your time and have a really fulfilling experience? Fantastic cathedral in a quite idyllic setting, peaceful as can be yet it is a full working cathedral. Friendly, knowledgeable staff who interact as much or as little as you need or want. Around the cathedral is a plethora of choice for teas/coffees/snacks/lunch so you can take a time out, recharge and if you wish re-visit. Been twice now, once for a service and once to investigate further and I would happily go back

“A living building”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

Visiting Llandaff Cathedral is not like visiting a crumbly old church , it has a full programme of services and concerts. There were lots of volunteers ready to greet you and offer information . Everyone was very friendly . The guides are keen to show you around and share the cathedrals history or let you wander at your own pace . Epsteins Christ in Majesty was magnificent . Don't miss the Lady Chapel at the back of the cathedral. Next to the cathedral is Prebendal house serving tea / coffee etc , again everyone was very friendly . It is only a short distance outside the town centre and well worth a visit .
