Review of St. David's Hall

St. David's Hall
Ranked #3 of 13 Concerts & Shows in Cardiff
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 25 March 2012

Matt Cardle concert March 25th 2012. Seated on the 6th level.
One of the most annoying problems with this hall is the sound. The support act appeared to be quite good singers, but unfortunately due to the sound system it was not possible to understand what was being sung. This problem was also the same at the first half of the Hollies concert where we were sat in the middle of the first floor looking directly at the stage.
Surely with all the technology in this modern age, this should be sorted before the acts take to the stage.
Another issue is, when you are sat on the 6th level, why can you not put screens up so that the artist can be seen-considering the prices you charge surely this is not too much to ask.
If it were not for the issues complained about, this venue would be excellent as it is right in the heart of the city with great access to restaurants, hotels, shops and travel links all readily available

On one of the biggest days in the Wales sporting calendar, this venue opens its doors freely for the masses to watch a big screen in the bar area. Unfortunately there's hardly any seating and the pillars obscure viewing. The wine is criminally undrinkable, even with water and the food wouldn't be served in a prison let alone to a willing audience. With a big venue downstairs with great viewing, large screen and rows of seating - wouldn't it be worth opening up for a nominal charge of say £5 per head? If you offered decent wine as well as the beer, and some edible food, I'm sure you could make a mint.

Right in the centre of Cardiff, surrounded by huge stores and intimate shops, shopping malls and a delightful little church, this is a great place to go for a variety of concerts, etc. This is the main venue for the prestigious Cardiff Singer of the World competition, wnhich is probably the most memorable event we have seen there.

Lovely central venue with good access and comfortable seating plus a varied programme of events. they have lost some of the good stuff to the Milennium Centre but still very good.
