Stayed here for an event at the Motor point Arena, the hotel was perfectly located.
The rooms were very basic, however it had everything we needed.
The bathroom was like a pod, which to be honest wasn't the best set up and the shower cubicle was slightly mouldy.
However for £34 we can not complain too much!!

Perfect for one night, in particular if you are going to an event at the Motor Arena as it is literally a 3 minute walk. Car park is over the road and the station isn't too far, so take your pick. Very basic (as you would expect from an Ibis hotel), but it is clean and the staff is friendly. Added bonus is that there is a bar. Decent price for a city break, too. If you are looking for faults, the view wasn't great, but we weren't there to sit and look out of the window!

Stayed here for two nights, found the hotel staff very friendly and the room was excellent, the bathroom reminded me of some sort of space ship, which I liked! The hotel is in an excellent location. The only thing that let this stay down was that I could hear the trains from early morning, which wasn't good as I had gone down to view universities and needed a good night sleep, all that said I would still return.

Bad points...( room 218) If I was to be picky, the wc didn't flush first time , the carpet slightly worn the view was a railway embankment and if I am allowed to say it non local staff ( not always a bad thing)plus my wife didn't like the "pod" shower /wc. Oh yes and the tv image was faulty. Good points , the staff were certainly helpful to us , the room clean and we had a great nights sleep on a wonderfully bed .well insulated walls and I rather liked the pod too ! The breakfast had plenty of choices cereals , cooked breakfast etc (again I could be sniffy about individual tastes but it was all well cooked) If you have won the lottery try chapel 1877 across the road for a fabulous meal , turn right at the clock in queen street for the start of restaurants and wether spoons and bars or left at chapel 1877 follow the road along through to the Hayes and some pretty lively bars and nightlife around st Mary street.

Room Tip: I guess as a chain they will all be quite similar

The location is perfect, close to everything, it is though on a busy street, and very noisy, even in the middle of the night.
The room is quite spacious, and the bathroom is ok. Towels are a bit better quality than what i have seen in other Ibis hotels.
However there is no luggage rack, so you have to either use the floor or the small table. The bathroom reminds slightly of a ships cabin, with plasticky floor and handles everywhere, like we are expected to fall over.
The staff seems not very competent, sometimes almost rude, tried the breakfast once, but asked for my money back, and went to local cafe. The breakfast buffet was bare, there was nothing but semi stale croissants and coffee/tea, and the staff did not seem likely to remedy the situation.
The room was cleaned daily, except for vacuming. The floor in the room was constantly dirty.
Tv is small, with a poor selection of channels, and very poor reception.
Stayed five days, and on the last day went out for a few errands, came back to pick up luggage, only to find that the keycard no longer worked. The time was 11.30 am. Very frustrating to have to go back down, complain and get new card. Do they really want to get rid of guests that badly ?
For a business trip it is liveable, for comfort and pleasure , not so much.
Since i was there for business, at a time when most hotels in Cardiff was fully booked, the price had been raised, so it did seem not good value for the money. For a lower price, one may lower ones expections.

Room Tip: Very noisy, go as high as possible.

Dear 'fatimazahra', thank you for your feedback. I can reassure you that the importance of thorough daily room inspections by the housekeeping team has been reiterated to the relevant staff so as to ensure this does not happen again. I have passed your comments regarding Tv and door lock to our maintenance department. Thank you for these comments. Kind Regards, Jacek
