“What a friendly place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2012

We recently stayed at this Premier Inn for three nights and we had a truly lovely stay. It's located a fair was outside Cardiff, so you will need transport if you are intending going into the city. Our room was located facing the car park and was quiet, whereas the rooms facing the busy main road on the other side of the building might have been a bit noisy. The accommodation was clean and in a good state of repair for its age, the food was very good and the drinks prices at the bar are very competitive for a hotel. But the best part of all was the staff, as every single member we encountered during our stay were courteous, polite and very friendly, especially towards the children. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, and we are looking forward to our next trip to this part of Wales so that we can stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the car park side of the hotel.

I often comment on trip advisor about places I stay and eat at and it suddenly struck me that I stay at the Premier inn Cardiff North at least 3 times a month and I have never commented on it, so here it goes. whilst I do stay here for work purposes and it's a bit like home from home I have observed the wonderful hospitality and friendliness of the staff with all customers, they are always ready with a smile and no problem is to big or to small. The staff are brilliant with children and during my last stay half term week the staff had decorated the hotel with Halloween bunting etc and the children loved it. The rooms are immaculate as is the communal areas and whilst the menu does get a bit repetitive for me as I am there so often I cannot complain about the food or the customer service in the restaurant . It's a great work base but it is also only 10 mins away from the city centre so an ideal base for shopping or exploring Cardiff which is an amazing city. Don't bother with the city centre hotels as often parking is limited, good parking here and about £7 in a taxi to the centre but a bus stop is also outside the hotel to the left to get you into the city centre as well as the park and ride about 2mins away.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the A28 can be a little noisy if you need the window open.

Joanne on reception, and all the female restaurant staff were fantastic - they worked their socks off, they were so good with the children, and they provided a very warm welcome and a standard of service above and beyond what was required. Nothing was too much trouble and they worked really hard during what was a very busy half term period. Fantastic staff! They made all the difference to our stay.
We had a spacious family room - the beds for the children were already made up on our arrival. The bathroom was very small but we had no other complaints.
We were concerned it might be noisy as we faced the A48 dual carriageway but the brilliant double glazing meant we didn't hear a thing.
Highly recommend this hotel - especially if you have children.

Got a great deal with two £29 rooms for our family of four . Yes the hotel does look a little tatty from the outside but once inside it once clean, warm and welcoming. The desk staff were both efficient and friendly. Both rooms were fine but the bathrooms were a little on the snug size. I agree that there is some road noise from the nearby A48 but it didn't really bother us at all. We took a taxi into Cardiff city centre one evening and this cost us £11. I have stayed at many Premier Inns and I don't think I have ever had a better breakfast- the food was of a good quality and well cooked.
We had a great weekend and enjoyed staying at this hotel and I would chose to stay there again.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Got the early deal thingy for £29 a night for the first two nights and was £60ish for the third. Usual good standard of room. Restaurant was decent, nothing special but did the job!

Room Tip: Top floor was great, you almost had a view!

We arrived around lunchtime was seen to promtly, given our room key etc.

We arrived in our room to find what was a tidy comforable room, Tv worked, kettle, bath etc.

The only downsides would have been the traffic noise, carpark was a bit too small for the amount of people staying at the hotel. Also the bar, restraunt area was small, had pool tv etc. There was a small choice of food on the menu, we opted for room service so we were told that for room service we would have to go down to the bar and order so that is what we did then, we had a knock at our door expecting it to be room service instead it was a man telling us that we needed to go back down stairs to collect our food to bring it up ourselfs?

Overall stay was ok.

My wife and I stayed here recently en route to the Ferry at Fishguard. We could not have been more satisfied with our stay. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and warm. Breakfast was also to a high standard and very efficiently run. It was the first time we had stayed at a Premier Inn, and it wont be the last.
