This hotel is situated right in the city centre near the stadium, shops, castle, train station etc. The check in was easy and room clean and tidy however it was very small and compact. There was a great selection of food at breakfast and everything tried was enjoyable!

Stayed: April 2013, travelled on business

Thank you for your review and choosing to stay with us.

It is great to hear everything was as it should be for your stay, and that you managed to sample the whole range of items between your party at breakfast! I am glad you enjoyed it.

Stayed at the holiday in for one night when visiting cardiff to see a show. Location is great. Staff were very helpful, car parking was ideal and very reasonable for 24hrs. Would definatly visit again.

If you're heading to Cardiff for the likes of a rugby weekend, this hotel is perfect - great location right next to the stadium, no frills, basic and pretty cheap.
Another good point is that the staff were very friendly and helpful (ruthlessly efficient wrangling the very busy breakfast service).
If you're heading there for business, avoid it. They have wifi but charge ridiculous rates for it (I was there for two days and had to shell out £25 for it).
The main problem was the noise in the hotel - not loud music or anything like that, just really poor sound proofing from room to room. The door slamming was endless and shook the place every time, the room upstairs had a hyperactive child in it who thundered back and forth all evening and worst of all, I could clearly hear a guy in another room peeing long and often.
Gross.
The furniture in the room was run down and shabby (pieces missing from the grill which I presume used to be the ventilation for the mini bar fridge, which now no longer exists), only one double plug socket of which just one side worked. Every pre-dial button on the phone was broken, particularly annoying when having searched the room for the non-existent printed hotel guide, I figured out details were on the TV menu but it didn't have numbers for room service, it just said 'use the pre-dial button on the phone'.
There was an open packet of cleansing wipes from a previous guest in the desk drawer and on the tea/coffee tray, dusty glasses and an old hair grip. Yuk.
The place itself was dated and tired but if you don't want any frills and are there with a group for the weekend, go for it, it's spot on

Room Tip: Family rooms are bigger but there's the dange of getting a noisy family with kids above you.

Thank you for your response and comments. I am sorry you found certain aspects below expectations. I do like to think, maybe with a slightly biased view we are great for all our guests needs, as you experienced with our helpful and friendly staff which underpins any good hotel.

Please be assured that we are continuing the refurbishment of our rooms and more are scheduled this year. WIFI is an area we are looking at and there are changes shortly with regard to this. I would be happy to discuss personally in more detail if you wish to contact me

I have used the Holiday Inn a few times over the years as a stop over after a night out in Cardiff. The hotel never fails to deliver. The rates a relatively cheap (cheaper than a taxi home when the trains have stooped running) and the staff are very warm and friendly. The location is one of the best in Cardiff. The rooms themselves are clean and well serviced, however it can get a bit noisy in the corridors when large, boisterous parties take advantage of the location and prices. The facilities are very good, with the car park prices being extremely competitive with other areas within the city.

We visited recently for a 2 night stay with our severely disabled 13 year old daughter who was also a little poorly during our stay.Everyone in the hotel seemed to be aware of her and could not have been more helpful when we required extra assistance. This was especially true of Housekeeping
Thank you
