Spent a couple of nights here this week with my Mum. Great location, enjoyed being able to park the car when we arrived and not have to drive it again until we left. We asked for a quiet room and had one at the back of the hotel, 4th floor, overlooking the stadium. Might be a bit noisy on a match night, but was great when we were there! Would thoroughly recommend it to anybody wanting a central location with car park.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - back of hotel away from the main road.

From the fast and friendly check in, through the very comfy (if a bit used and showing it) room - the bed was fantastic though and excellent service when requesting different pillow types. This was one of the best stays at a chain hotel that I have had.

The breakfast is the best I have had from a self serve buffet style setup. Quality items (you can tell by the sausages! They weren't cheap and nasty.) and all kept piping hot unlike others I have had (including The Grand at Brighton!).

Bar prices are also not inflated, something that makes you want to use the bar rather than go elsewhere.

If I had to give any negatives, then the bathroom in the room was very small. Plus as someone not staying on business having a knock on the door at 8:25 from the cleaners wanting to get in was not welcome....

Otherwise excellent, especially with the view of the river and stadiums from our room!

... That's probably the best thing about the place.

The car park is minuscule and difficult to move around, and use of it is charged in addition to your room charge. The windows do open which is always good, even if the noise is quite overbearing - the price you pay for such a central location.

The opportunity to choose your pillow is a nice touch but doesn't help the problem I have encountered in every Holiday Inn ever - the bed is far too soft and forms a massive hollow down the centre meaning it's impossible to comfortably share a double.

Still. The hotel is clean and well looked after, and the staff are pleasant and eager to help. It's just a shame the fundamentals aren't better invested in.

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that you did not find the bed to your liking. We regularly invest in mattress and bed replacement, but if you would be kind enough to drop me a line - richard.platts@ihg.com with details of the room in which you stayed , I can look into this further.

Thank you again.

I am glad you found all your needs met by the hotel and the team.

It does take a different complexion during rugby matches, but that all adds to the atmosphere!

Just to make you aware we have an affiliation with a local gym for all our residents to use.

I look forward to welcoming you back

I stayed here last night for work reasons. The staff were incredibly helpful - they lent me scissors so I could cut my insoles & gave me a spare brolly as it was teeming down. The room was very big compared to the bathroom which was very small. The walls are a little thin & I could hear next door talking. Breakfast was lovely - I had a view over to the castle. Comfy bed.

Stayed for 2 nights over a very busy weekend (European Rugby Finals). Very convenient for the rugby stadiums (next door) and 5 mins walk to the town centre. Despite it being a very busy weekend with lots of rugby fans staying at the hotel, it was very quiet and seemed to have good sound insulation. Comfortable rooms, good breakfast and a bar which stayed open late - not much wrong with that.
Paid over the top of the normal rate due to the rugby (which is why we were there) but all the hotels were the same charging up to double their normal rates. At their normal rate it is good value for the money.

The location of this hotel is excellent - right in the centre of the City, just across the road from the castle and almost in the High Street. It is also next door to the Millennium Stadium (good if you are there for an event but I suspect noisy if you aren't).

Food is typical (not exciting but perfectly good). Hotel is clean, good sleep quality. The room was large and the air conditioning worked (it was noisy but could be switched off at night).

There is a good bit of parking - probably sufficient for everyone - at £10 per day.

BUT they charge £15 per day for Internet access. How can anyone charge for internet access these days? No hotel does it abroad - it would be like charging for towels.
