As far as I am concerned cn has it all. I have been going there about 3 times a month for over a year and have never been disappointed. The menu is exceptionally wide ranging with many authentic dishes from Northern China. Don‘t be put off when you see pig maw (stomach lining), beef tongue, or chicken gizzard – just some of the more interesting dishes, because there are plenty of others to appeal to Western tastes. The hot & spicy golden crab is wonderful although it takes some time for me to deal with the shell. My present favourite is the braised seabass but I like to try different things as well. The young staff are all very welcoming and are pleased to help with choices. The main clientele is Chinese with many students from the university. They usually arrive in groups and invariably choose to have another speciality, the hotpot. That is a ‘cook yourself’ meal with a choice of soup bases over a hot flame. There are many meats, seafoods, vegetables and other flavourings to suit anybody’s taste but don’t expect a quick meal – it takes a while to get through it all. The bill naturally varies with the choice of food, tea, beer, or wine but is surprisingly reasonable considering the quality. The only downside is that we do not get to see so much of Nathan, the helpful co-owner, these days.
