“Lovely Sunday Dinner”
Reviewed 9 June 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday dinner today for a party of 6. Food was lovely. All felt very fresh. Puddings were delicious and totally lived up to the "homemade" description. The random nature of the floor plan gives most tables a private feel which is nice. It was busy and seemed very popular so booking for Sunday dinner is probably a requirement. Thank you very much.

Others have written about the excellent food, staff etc, but we want to acknowledge the excellent rooms. There are only three of them and we saw them all before choosing the one with a bath (and the three rubber duckys). All were clean, modern and spacious. Such a good place to stay, only 4 miles out of Cardiff, but in a very rural setting. A great place for an Aussie to stay.

Yet to find anywhere as good in Cardiff.

Pub is cosy and friendly. Walker friendly

Food is delicious and plentiful (which as a walker I like a good plateful, with extra veg if wanted) Roast beef is £12, but is cooked to ones liking, always had it rare and melt I'm the mouth.

Desserts are homemade and yummy too

I am not going to repeat every good thing that has been said before, it is exactly as previously written.
The Landlady was around ALL of the time making sure everyone was being served and happy.
A great selection for Breakfast, fresh fruit was really a nice touch. Local produce cooked to order, not sitting under a heat lamp and guess who cooked and served it.
She deserves all the praise you can give.
What a great place. Still A REAL PUB with their own Micro Brewery.
Full of locals. Arthur is there most nights.
Great position for local attractions and really good walks.

Really fabulous stay in welcoming, comfortable ,warm room with delicious food and excellent selection of real ales and wines.
Staff and proprietors were most helpful ,cheerful and nothing too much trouble ,service at 100%, Maggie's breakfasts will long be remembered for their deliciousness .We ate in the restaurant everyday and we were not disappointed at any time.
Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you.

Selfish I know and impossible anyway but this inn is so good I never want to find it is full and I cannot get in. Owned by a lady with lots of experience (it shows) and a chef who not only produces lovely food but knows the wines as well. Whether just the two of us or a party of six, lunchtime or evening, we have always come away completely satisfied. A varied menu plus daily offerings and those desserts to die for.
Tucked away at the end of the village along a narrow lane that might deter some, with a carpark just sufficient as long as the bar customers downstairs have not brought their cars too. There are rooms available; fishing, rambling and country walks. Whatever your desires you will always look forward to returning for that next meal.

My wife and I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed. The Sunday lunch is absolutely superb (especially the beef) and the a la carte dinner menu and is always superb quality with a great wine list as well as some great specials. I have not had a better steak in cardiff. The staff are friendly, attentive and all know the menu well and are always accommodating with any requests.
An evening here can be a little expensive but you definitely get what you pay for, I would absolutely recommend this for couples, groups or families looking for a great night out with excellent food and atmosphere.
