“Pity Standard of Breakfast has Dropped”
Reviewed 2 April 2013

Often we have been into the Ernest Willows for breakfast, its a great pity standards have dropped for this meal. I like well cooked eggs but they were cremated, my partner has his eggs as they come and his were inedible burnt to a frazzle, the rest of the meal was just chilled and not of the Wetherspoons standard.

In future we will probably go to the Great Western where the food currently is better.

“excellent value”
Reviewed 25 March 2013

To be honest, only chose this location as was convenient on the day. Ernest Willows being part of Wetherspoons chain. As was Mothering Sunday, was very busy and we had not reserved. The waitress happily found a table that could accommodate the wheelchair of one of our party. We ordered Sunday roast (beef), which included an excellent choice of beers, spirits, wine, hot and cold soft drinks. Meals were huge: A very generous portion of beautifully cooked beef with peas, broccolli, carrots at least half a dozen roast potatoes, a medium size yorkshire pudding, stuffing balls x2, bacon-wrapped chipolatas x 2 and of course gravy. A selection of desserts were available free of charge for every mother eating that day. The strawberry ice-cream sundae was delicious. The beer we chose would have cost just
under £3 per pint and the desserts between £2+ and £3+! So at £6.99 per head, this was
unbeatable. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning

“Good food!!”
Reviewed 23 March 2013

I was quite impressed with this Weatherspoons, the food was delicious, one of the best beef burgers I have had in a while, very juicy.. We regularly eat at various different spoons & this was by far the best. Although busy at the time, we sat in a little booth that felt very private & quiet...most enjoyable

“Uneatable breakfast.”
Reviewed 21 March 2013 via mobile

Have tried most of the Wetherspoons pubs in Cardiff, mostly for food. This is the worst breakfast I have had. The egg was awful, so undercooked it looked like the yolk was suspended in a load of mucus. The hashbrown appeared to have been reheated several times. The beans had a vinegar taste to them and were just luke warm. This was a very poor show. The Prince of Wales & Ivor Davies are far superior. A must to avoid.

“The best Wetherspoon pub in Cardiff”
Reviewed 23 February 2013

me and my partner have visted all Wetherspoon pubs in central Cardiff and this one has the best atmosphere and food. The Earnest Willows is now our regular pub and must think of a reason not to go. The prices are reasonable and the food is really good. We originally went there because Wetherspoons sells Black Dragon Cider, which we first tried at Cardiff Castle. Saw the menu and we had to try it. Can't beat the Original gourmet 6oz beef burger, topped with two bacon slices and a Stilton, Shropshire blue & spring onion sauce. Includes six beer-battered whole onion rings and chips (best chips I've had in a long time) plus a pint for £6.50. Can't go wrong with that.
Love that the menu includes lovely welsh foods such as flaming dragon curry, dragon sausages and mash, beef and SA brains pie. The rest of the menu is equally as tasty
To make it even better they have their food club, Tuesday steak club, Thursday curry club and Sunday lunch club.
