I go here occasionally for convenient, cheap meals. The 241 offer is very good value for money (£6.79 for 2 good sized meals) and although it isn't fine dining it proves excellent value for money. The place is usually pretty full and there are signs of wear but if you can see the ladies' toilets it is worth the visit. The steak and kidney pudding is calorie-heavy but tasty even if the peas are bullet like. The chili con carne is just what you need on a cold and rainy day in Cardiff
The efficiency and attitude of the staff is variable but OK. The place has a Hygeine Rating of 5.

If you've visited a JD Wetherspoons pub before then you should know exactly what to expect from the Ernest Willows.
The food is cheap, and it tastes like it.
The beer is also cheap, a pint of Guinness priced at £2.40 is probably one of the cheapest in Cardiff. They have five or six real-ale pumps, although these can often be hit or miss: if your pint is just slightly cloudy or tangy then that's probably the best you can hope for.
The staff are actually pretty good. Friendly, capable and chatty.

To summarise, the Ernest Willows is like a McDonald's restaurant but with beer.

A fantastic pub conveniently located near the Mercure hotel where I was staying. I usually feel quite conscious about going to a pub alone but really felt very welcome. The staff were amazing and always friendly. The food and specials are well worth the money.

Just stopped off for a couple of cheeky ones. The ale range was nothing short of spectacular, with even an American craft beer available... Good work!
