Description: Chapel 1877 formerly the Pembroke Terrace chapel has been restored into this incredible modern Bar and Restaurant and is a hugely popular and known as one of Wales top restaurants. Along with a lively champagne and cocktail bar, the Gourmet Gastro bar is very relaxed and lit throughout with candles of an evening and serves great upmarket food such as our famous chapel burger, steaks and a range of quirky twists on a standard Gastro pub menu. Our upper floor A la Carte restaurant sits in the top of the chapel amongst beautiful chapel windows and huge chandeliers with tables on Balconies and within little chapel booths. This is by far the most Beautiful Restaurant in Cardiff and the food is a mix of steaks, fine Dining with a twist, and a beautiful range of starters and deserts that will have your mouth watering prepared by our team of 8 chef's. The building has some unusual features wit spiral staircases and also a private dining vault & function suite. This inspiring restaurant is a must visit restaurant of Cardiff.

“Superb Sunday Lunch with first class service”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Decided at last minute on a cold windy rainy Sunday to pop in here for lunch.. and what an excellent choice !
Superb building, and a really cosy atmosphere.
The Sunday lunch menu had plenty of choices and at £12 for 1 course £15 for 2 and £18 for 3 is pretty competitive.
I chose the beef which was simply superb - excellently tender and perfectly medium rare, and lovely portion of thick slices with home-made horseradish. Excellent crunchy vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and duck fat basted roasties (which if I'm being overly critical were the only part of the meal that was not excellent - slightly too long since they were roasted I think).
My companion had the chicken with a superb home made fruity stuffing.
I then went for the cheese board, which was quite a large size considering it was only £3 extra - and my companion had the panacotta with a salted caramel pistachio crumb type dressing and a fruit sauce - simply excellent.
All served by a waitress who was polite, attentive, swift and a credit to the place.
Thanks one and all - definitely a return visit ASAP !

“A trendy pub, not a restaurant”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Fun idea and well renovated but provincial. That sounds unfair but the staff are a bit full of themselves and clearly have not done the mileage. Food, well pub food plus. Took ages for the food to come.

“Fantastic building, surly waitress, average food”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Having seen all the rave reviews about this establishment four of us ate there on a Monday evening. we were given a particular time for our table so expected it to busy but it was quite quiet. Drinks beforehand seemed expensive, particularly Peroni at £4.80.

For starters two of us chose the chicken and foie gras pate which was delightful as were the scallops my wife ate. The duck ham was similar to serano ham according to the person who ordered it.

Main courses were disappointing for three of us, the 12 oz pork chops had obviously shrunk in cooking and my Barnsley (lamb) chop paled into insignificance compared with those served in the nearby Potted Pig - and was not cooked pink as requested but was well done. My wife really enjoyed the risotto with a bass fillet.

We passed on desserts and coffees. We thought our eventual bill for £180 did not reflect the food we ate.

“Good food and great ambiance”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Beautifully converted from chapel to restaurant and bar. We visited on a Saturday evening and it was very busy and buzzing. The food was good, as was the service. I am only giving 4 stars because I had to send my sole back for further cooking. Other than that, we had an enjoyable evening and didn't feel rushed. Would definitely return if in Cardiff.
