Decided at last minute on a cold windy rainy Sunday to pop in here for lunch.. and what an excellent choice !
Superb building, and a really cosy atmosphere.
The Sunday lunch menu had plenty of choices and at £12 for 1 course £15 for 2 and £18 for 3 is pretty competitive.
I chose the beef which was simply superb - excellently tender and perfectly medium rare, and lovely portion of thick slices with home-made horseradish. Excellent crunchy vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and duck fat basted roasties (which if I'm being overly critical were the only part of the meal that was not excellent - slightly too long since they were roasted I think).
My companion had the chicken with a superb home made fruity stuffing.
I then went for the cheese board, which was quite a large size considering it was only £3 extra - and my companion had the panacotta with a salted caramel pistachio crumb type dressing and a fruit sauce - simply excellent.
All served by a waitress who was polite, attentive, swift and a credit to the place.
Thanks one and all - definitely a return visit ASAP !
