Tasty Sunday lunch with great choice of beers. The only thing might prevent me from returning is the fact that dogs allowed in the bar did create a bit of a smell.

Always a good selection of really good real ale - straight from the barrel. Good food served most evenings and one of the best Sunday lunches in the area.

Arrived starving and thirsty after a drive from Sussex, the pint of Hop Head was really good and the New Yorker Chicken sandwich was very filling. Not likely to pass by again, but if I did I would call in.

Fagin's Ale & Chop House in Taffs Well is one of two pubs in the village close to Cardiff, the only one offering frech made food seven days a week. The pub looks small from the outside but it's fairly big when you enter - they've got more then ten Tables for the hungry and some more for the thirsty.

the guest room comes along with a cosy atmosphere, a nice warm fireplace (depending on the Season) and a very friendly staff (second time you go there, they would know exactly what drink you want).
The Selction of beers and ciders is quite above the usual in the surrounding and those not so well known are worth trying - surprise guaranteed.
When it comes to the menue you will find a selection of more or less traditionell english and welsh dishes rangin from haddock & chips (good) to sirloin steaks, ribeye steaks (good), lamb liver, lamb shanks (very good) and dayly specials to moderat prices between seven and 15 Pound. According to my wife, the deserts (you should ask for what's available) are perfect.
We stayed in the village for a while, tryed some of the dishes and were satisfied every time. You get loads of food on the dishes - sometimes hard to handle and need a short one afterwards. Or two.
Conclusion: Best rate for a country pub a bit awaqy from the toutist trails.

Called in midweek lunchtime to find a fabulous pub, great atmosphere with lots of laughter and chat. Had a pint of Dark Star Hophead nice beer! Roaring fire as well. Would have given it a 5 except the kitchen was closed for maintenance. Will definitely return when I fully expect to give it the 5 it deserves.
