Stayed at this hotel with my partner in August 2010. It was a birthday treat so decided to go all out with an upgraded superior room and massages in the Laguna spa. On arrival the reception was spotless clean and front desk staff were very welcoming and friendly. Room was extremely spacious, modern and very clean. Huge double bed with egyptian cotten pillows and duvet. plasma on the wall with seperate seating area. Bathroom was very stylish with seperate shower & bath. Moving onto the spa area, jacuzzi steam room and lovely sized swimming pool, very very nice! Massage was the best we've ever had. decided to eat outside of the hotel in the night, this hotel is in the centre of town so had loads of restaraunts to choose from! i have been reading some negative reviews about the noise during the night, this was not a problem for us, no noise at all! Breakfast in the morning was amazing, lots of choice! One of the best city hotels we've every stayed in! Must go!

Good clean room and bathroom. Free wi-fi. Ask for a room away from the front of the hotel as this overlooks bars, nightclubs and bus stops.

We had booked a superior room with a queen size bed but when we got to our room it was only a double. After reporting this to reception they told us that as we had asked for a quiet room that a queen size bed would not be available unless we wanted to move to a lower floor at the front of the building. Perhaps this should have been stated at the time of booking?!
So much for the quiet room. Even though we did not hear the noise from the bars across the road our room was opposite a storeroom which meant we heard the cleaners conversations quite clearly each morning.
In our room we found that there were hairs in both the sink and bath. We reported this to reception and housekeeping arrived very quickly to reclean our bathroom.
Be wary of the lifts as while we were staying people got stuck in it on two different occasions for more than an hour.
The hotel is in a great location. About a 5 minute walk from the main shops, restaurants and the castle.
It has the potential to be a great hotel but unfortunately the mix up with the booking and the standard of cleaning means that we will not be recommending this hotel.

Stayed here this past week, and the hotel is first class. Very modern, clean and spacious. The rooms were well equiped and faultless. The Pool, Steam room and area was impeccable, as were the spa treatments and staff.

The food was brilliant, and very very reasonably priced. The kitchen knows what it is doing!! Shame, tho, that the restaurant staff (lunch and dinner) were so poor and unprofessional. They let the kitchen down and were careless and inefficient.

Will definately stay again, and will eat as the food so good, despite the waiting staff!!

Three particular plus points for this centrally-located hotel situated between the Queen Street shopping area and Cardiff Castle. First, very helpful and friendly reception staff. Secondly, larger than average room size, although the bathroom is perhaps on the small size. Thirdly, a very civilised cancellation policy. Although I had booked for two nights, my business in Cardiff was over earlier than expected. I was able to cancel the second night at 2 pm on that day and was not billed for that night, or charged a "cancellation fee" as certain chains are wont to do. For those whose stay is of uncertain duration, this is a great bonus. Other hotels please note. And apart from the above, the hotel has a great spa, gym and pool.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Park Plaza for 4 nights in August. It’s a lovely hotel in a great location. All the attractions are on your doorsteps.

Staff were really nice and helpful. We did have to wait around 20 min for our room to be ready but we were offered a complimentary drink.

The room was nice and clean with king size bed; bathroom was mostly clean, although the mildew in the corners around the bath should be treated better, as they put me off having a nice bubble bath.
A few people mentioned in their reviews problems with TV and unfortunately we had it too. When we arrived our TV didn’t work at all so we needed to call reception. It took some time to get it working and facilities like that should be ready before guests arrive, not when they already in their room.
I was a bit worried about night time noises, as we read so many reviews about loud neighbourhood. We did have a room on the street side, opposite night clubs, however the outside noise was not a problem, while the slamming of doors on our floor was. Using the fire escape/staircase instead of a lift was unusually popular in this building and every time someone opened the doors they were shut not only loudly but were causing the whole room to vibrate. It was not only noisy but really irritating. That was the biggest shortcoming of the room and should be looked into by hotel facilities.

The hotel has a lovely spa and the staff are as polite and nice as the hotel staff, although not that well organized. We booked a Thai massage for one evening over the phone but were advised to double check upon arrival if that’s possible, as no one on the phone knew for sure if the specialist will be available. He wasn’t, so we decided to get different treatments and we changed few things. When we arrived for our appointments we found out that they booked incorrect times, so my boyfriend ended up having only half an hour instead of an hour and I didn’t have my eyebrows done as I wanted. The massages were lovely and I would definitely recommend them. Just be careful to double check with staff times and treatments! They get confused too easily.

Overall it was a nice experience.
