My husband and I went to Cardiff for the weekend. We were looking for a place to eat after visiting the castle, saw that there were loads of people dining on a communal table inside the Duke Street Arcade. This can only be a good sign, so we decided to check out it out. We were greeted by some really friendly smiles as we walked into Garlands. It was quite busy, but we managed to find a table for two. We were given the menu pretty quickly, and there are plenty of choices for for breakfast/brunch. I decided to go for the pancake with bacon, maple syrup with scramble eggs, hubby went for an egg royale and a couple of coffee. Their coffee were excellent, and our food arrived pretty swiftly as we were enjoying our coffee. They also have an array of cakes on display, from cheesecakes, fruit tarts to carrot cakes. They look ever so inviting that hubby and I decided to share a piece of oreo chocolate cake and was told that they were freshly made in-house everyday!
We felt that it was great value for money eating at Garlands, the portion size is generous and they are delicious too. You can tell that the food and salad were freshly prepared and staff were friendly and carry a smile all the time. In my opinion, cafe like Garlands, (especially in London where we live) where they are friendly and welcoming is hard to come by.
Hubby and I will definitely return to Cardiff just to eat at Garlands again!
