Stayed here for a night visiting relatives as Cardiff hotels so expensive, and this was just under £40 for a double room. This is an old commercial hotel which is now owned by Wetherspoons, the room was not huge but spotlessly clean, with a decent sized modern shower room. Crisp white bedding, plenty of towels and spare pillows, tea/coffee tray and 2 bottles of mineral water (no biscuits ). Reception was quick, efficient and friendly (thank you Aimee) and there is a lift. We were on the top floor at the back, no view, but good location due to the fact that the ground floor of the building houses a Lloyd's No 1 bar with LOUD music on some nights. We ate in Lloyd's and food was reasonably priced, quickly served by very friendly staff. Later on (Sat night) it got much busier, excellent place for people-watching, not sure what the 2 guys in white masks and Lycra comedies were doing.......at about 11 they turn the music UP then it is very loud till 3 am. Even in our room you could feel the vibration through the floor. On a non music night this would be a FANTASTIC value place to stay, on a music night you won't get to sleep early. Breakfast not included, but Lloyd's open at 7 with usual reasonably priced selection.
