Rooms were immaculate, looking like they had all been redecorated, refurnished and got new carpets. Breakfast was excellent and very filling. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us, even supplying us with Tea and Coffee when we turned up.Thoroughly recommend.

Our 3rd time at this guest house as its an ideal base for Cardiff( only 10 mins on train ) we use it for the rugby at millenium stadium...rooms a good size, breakfast is excellant with a good chioce.
Our visit was slightly spoilt by A group of 11 frenchmen booked in at same time who chose too party VERY loudly until 7.30 am the following morning , but this was quickly dealt with by landlady.
Will stay again.

This was our second visit and we were just as impressed the second time. Genia is a wonderful hostess and other staff very friendly. The guest house is a wonderful old Victorian building full of many appropriate features and is very well looked after. The rooms are spacious and all the little touches are there to make sure you have everything you need. The beds are very comfortable.

Breakfast is served in a lovely airy room with cereals presented in bowls rather than just the packets, a selection of juices and fruit. Similarly butter and jam are in individual pots, not packaging. Cooked items are prepared to order. Most impressive of all is the fact there are linen napkins, not paper.

It is only a short walk from the railway station (admittedly it's uphill to get there) on a quiet road and there is parking available at the rear.

If you really do have to go to Newport (avoid it if you possibly can) then this B&B will restore some amount of faith in the place. Situated 'up the hill' where all the owner class of Victorian society would have lived safely away from the working class rabble down town, this house is a 5-10 minute walk from the rail station which is only then 20 minutes from the centre of Cardiff. Excellent value, great breakfast, comfy if rather narrow bed, ample parking on site or in the road outside and scrupulously clean, you cannot do better.

I stayed for one night at Crescent Guest House, I was alone but was made to feel so welcome. The proprietor was friendly and so helpful. I had a large comfortable room which had just been decorated. It looked fantastic with soft furnishings that complemented such a grand old building, which was full of original features but had modern touches throughout. The refreshment tray was filled with goodies and even had cup of soups for those peckish moments. The breakfast was outstanding and I really cannot fault anything about this lovely place. I will definately not stay anywhere else in Newport now I have found this place.

In the unlucky event to visit Newport, I definitely recommend to book a room in this beautiful, warm and cosy guest house.
Our room was incredibly spacious, clean, well furnished and bright (despite the Welsh weather). Bathroom had everything you need... Good full English breakfast. Let me say that the Crescent it is more a 4 stars hotel than a guest house.

Moreover, the friendly owner will make your stay cosy and extremely comfortable.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

From the moment we arrived we were made most welcome by the owner Genia. The only regret is that we did not stay longer. We were given a choice of room, and stayed in room 10. Very well maintained room, with flat screen television, DVD player, extensive courtesy tray, large sofa, iron and ironing board, comfortable bed, separate bathroom with high quality toiletries to use. Breakfast was again excellent. Well done Genia.

Room Tip: We use room 10, on the top floor which was great.
