popped onto the bridge lastyear to show the children, then popped back again this year, did notice a difference in price as i was charged per adult in the car this time round where as last year it was per car. but the kids enjoy going on the moving bridge so it was worth the 2quid .. we got out of the car and sat on the benches and they loved it :)

Yes, it's not open all the time, and yes the river here in Newport is a bit run down, but they are slowly getting their act together.
I was born in Newport and have lived here my whole life, and when a lot younger, used the bridge on a more regular basis.
It's great that when they do open it people can walk over the top, not for me, but great for those who can.
On Sunday we were driving by and it was open, so drove the car on and came across the USK the old fashioned way.
If you are near by it really is worth checking if it is open, and having a ride.

A very impressive piece of Victorian engineering (although technically just Edwardian). The folks working on the bridge are all very helpful and informative. We got tickets to climb the 278 steps to the top, walk across the catwalk and then take the gondola back across the river.

The climb is scary, but well worth doing for the view. Look for the little grey hut halfway across. It was put in for the convenience of the builders and service workers. Can you figure out why there's a gap in the planking?

Great experience for anyone who enjoys engineering and/or hates the 'experiences' which involve sitting in a darkened room watching a specially-made video of the attraction.

Visited this bridge for the second time this year. Was told on first visit that bridge was closed for winter months but would open during summer. This was not the case, for a second visit, in July, found the bridge once more closed. Furthermore, the post code was totally inaccurate and the satnav did not take us to the bridge! Is this a total washout, or not??!

For the small price of admission you can have a nice long walk over the top of this amazing structure. Although it's very high you always feel safe and the view from the top is amazing.
