“1st Class service - I'll stay here again!”
Reviewed 26 March 2009

I travel so much for work that I just expected this to be another average hotel ... but I was pleasantly surprised! The outside of the hotel is a bit bland and dated but the inside is stylish and updated. My room is clean and well appointed and I writing this review on the FREE Wi-Fi... a luxury often not provided by more expensive hotels. Additionally, the staff have been incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating... including faxing a few items off for me free of charge. The icing on the cake are the leisure facilities... again, usually not included in a hotel in the price bracket.

My only niggle is that it's quite easy to hear the outside world so if there are some loud drunks outside you'll hear them. (And I'm on the 7th floor!)

That being said, I can HIGHLY recommend this hotel and if you are planning a trip to the area you will not go wrong staying here!
(P.S. I bagged quite a bargain on lastminute.com)

I stayed at the Dragon Hotel for 2 nights in February. I had a slight hiccup at checkin (I was given a double room when I asked for a twin) but it was changed without fuss. The check in staff were friendly and helpful. The room was what you would expect from a 'chain' hotel, nothing over the top but very clean, comfortable with everything you need. My room overlooked the main road but I was not disturbed by any noise. Its a good location for local bars and restraunts, and far enough away not to be bothered by their noise. Good car park, but I would imagine it could get full. Didnt eat at the hotel, there are lots of places to get breakfast nearby. I would definatlely stay here again.

For me, definitely the better hotel hotel to stay in Swansea. Morgan's is one for luxury and the Marriott is good but the Dragon has the edge on both in terms of location and value. The staff are always friendly, the rooms smart and clean and the food very good. The hotel is located slap-bang in the middle of Swansea on the end of the Kingsway which can mean noise but its never been a problem for me. Similarly I've never had any problems in parking at the hotel although it must be said the car park is small and extremely awkward (there is an overflow at the nearby NCP). All in all my number one choice for a stay in the city.

Good hotel in a decent position. It's near the city centre and the railway station. Decent restaurant and the health club is exceptionally decent for a hotel of this size. One or two of the staff are miserable but some of the others are very good.

Stayed at this hotel with my husband for 3 nights, over a weekend, which was an advertised offer by their website. The hotel car park was not easily signposted therefore had to go into reception for directions. Took a ticket from the machine but unfortunately the barrier did not go up. There were no further instructions therefore went into reception again, and was informed that a second ticket had to be obtained from the machine for you to enter, which to me did not make much sense. Plus was not told this on my first visit into reception. The car park was smallish however managed to find a space. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The double room was small but adequate with plenty of hanging space for clothes. It was very clean and the bed was comfy. The heater was a bit noisy, therefore only had this on for a short time. Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice. Hot breakfast was a help yourself affair apart from Monday morning, when staff took your order. There was a lot of noise by revellers at night but only to be expected in the middle of a city. Good value for money

Due to business commitments, I needed to stay in Swansea on 4th November. My previous experience of the hotel - its excellent service, warm welcoming staff and luxurious surroundings - just some of the reasons why I felt the Dragon has to be the first choice accommodation for me; and I was not disappointed.

On arrival, everything that I had wanted and booked had been arranged. My room was tasteful, spacious and comfortable and similar to my first experience - the bathroom was meticulously clean with a plentiful supply of towels. Some hotels offer a single traveller just the minimum - but the Dragon provides sufficient for 2 people.

One thing that really impressed me this time was the wonderful ambience of the bar - although alone, I felt comfortable in spending time, enjoying a leisurely drink. Approaching Christmas, the Dragon would be ideal for a weekend break or a mid-way shopping spree with friends - honestly whatever your individual needs - you won't be disappointed.

I would highly recommend the Dragon Hotel Swansea to anyone needing to stay in the Swansea area - the newly extended car park is an added bonus. To give you an idea of the standard - my colleague is someone who, when in London, stays at Claridges and although I'm not comparing the Dragon to that particular hotel, the Dragon is my colleague's first choice hotel for exploring the Gower and visiting extended family members.

Thanks once again to the superb staff for making me so welcome. I will be back again soon.

3 night stay with 2 teenagers. Clean rooms but slightly scuffed around edges despite failrly recent upgrade. Bed was uncomfortable and after asking reception what they could do about this, they were very helpful and moved rooms for us, but unfortunatley the 2nd bed was equally uncomfortable. I don't get back ache at all but all 3 mornings I had terrible back ache as the beds dipped in the middles.

Double glazing not that effective for drowning road noise. Internal doors banging quite loudly form 7am.

Breakfast seemed very disorganised. Food would run out and with several visitors asking for replacements, it came in fits and starts. Tables were slow to be cleared. However all breakfast staff were pleasant and as helpful as possible. There could have been more staff to clear tables quicker though.

All reception and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. Health club good and staff very nice.
