Mercure Swansea
Ranked #14 of 22 Hotels in Swansea

No longer the Ramada Swansea but this hotel is being rebranded as a Mercure hotel. It is situated on a business park so is as previous reviewers have noted, not ideal for the city centre or the Mumbles. However, there is plenty of parking and if you have a sat nav easy to find your way around by car. Staff are really helpful and give excellent service. Our room was large and had all 'mod cons'. The heated mirror in the bathroom does away with the after shower mist on the glass - but on the downside the electric radiator in the room didn't work. No mould in the shower - very well done housekeeping!! Corridor fire doors are held open by magnetic contacts so that it is both easy to get luggage to the room and there are no banging doors during the night as other guests go about their nocturnal business. We ate in the bar and both the service and food was very good. As we needed to leave early in the morning and didn't want breakfast we asked for 'Quick Checkout'. When checking this before dearting we noted that breakfast had been added to the bill - so off to reception to be told that the cost of breakfast was automatically added to the account and then when guests didn't go into breakfast the cost was then taken off. So check your bill! Would we stay here again - YES. It was comfortable, clean, food was good and the staff are really chatty and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the corridors are quieter - but are further away from reception and the pool.

Although it's 15 minutes from the City Centre and 30 minutes from Mumbles, the sea and the start of The Gower, so you need a car to get anywhere pleasant, this was a very pleasant, welcoming hotel with very good Reception staff and helpful staff throughout. It's located practically on a Business Park. It can be a little tricky to find from the M4. Restaurant staff very helpful in reheating ready meal for our grandson who has a nut allergy. They also kept some food items refrigerated in the kitchen.

Room Tip: There's no lift so beware having a room upstairs if that's an issue
