Our canyoning session was cancelled by Liquid Friction less than an hour before we were scheduled to start. This was for safety reasons due to bad weather, which was fair enough. However, given that the weather had been terrible for over a week before our booking (widespread flooding across England and Wales, Met Office red alerts for wind and rain etc etc) I find it very hard to believe that Liquid Friction didn't know earlier that our trip would not be possible. Despite our booking being cancelled by Liquid Friction, we were were still charged 10%!!! Apparently this was because the instructors had already been booked. However, I strongly suspect that the organisers knew the event was not possible much earlier given the weather forecast, and only cancelled at the last minute to pocket our 10% deposit. We asked that as the instructors had been booked anyway, could they arrange for an alternative activity, but Liquid Friction refused. We were left to try and arrange another activity for 17 people at very short notice. If we had cancelled the booking we would have been happy to forfeit the deposit, but it is not right that the organiser cancels the booking and then pockets the deposit. I think this is very poor customer service, and I would definately not recommend this company.
