Dear sar3334

Thank you for taking the time to review the Grand Hotel Swansea. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed so many elements of your stay and that the room cleanliness and food service was recognised for its good service & quality. I am disappointed that the review was labelled 'Shocking' as to anyone flicking through Trip Advisor this gives a very negative view of the hotel, when really your review actually outlines some excellent points about the hotel. We do have several staff who speak a number of languages working with us, which from a hotel prospect is great for travelling customers. However I do sincerely apologise that on this occasion our staff spoke their mother tongue language in front of guests. This will be addressed and they will refrain from doing this again in the future. Regards

I have just stayed at the Grand Hotel for three nights. When I arrived at the hotel the front looked liked it could do with a scrub up! But when you enter it is really sumptuous everything to a very high standard, really top quality rooms. The same story for Swansea at first glance a bit down, but go to "Wind Street" it is packed with every named bar there is. That's the swing bit, also lots of nice places to visit. Really Ideal place for a short stay and you do not have to speak welsh.

Don't be put off with the idea that this hotel is next to the railway station it makes it easy to find and it certainly wont effect your stay . The best way to describe this budget hotel is a good value large bar with good staff and a good selection of food and drinks and above are some really good rooms that are immaculately clean and tidy with certain facilities you don't find in all budget hotels such as tea/coffee making facilities, ironing board, hairdryer, flat screen TV. The bathroom was more than adequate with a good supply of toiletries.

The bar area offers Sky TV and Wi-Fi is freely available. No parking available so you have to use the NCP car park which is just next door to the hotel at a cost of £6 per day.

A 5 minute walk takes you to shopping area which is also lively in the evenings with many bars and restaurants. If visiting the area for football or rugby at the liberty stadium then no problem its just a 25 minute easy walk.

Since staying at the Grand twice now I feel I must review this highly recommendable hotel. The value is brilliant. It might cost the same as some other places, but everything is far better. Clean, tidy, fresh, modern rooms. An amazing breakfast which does not disappoint, served by friendly staff - on that note all the staff are friendly helpful people. The barfood is second to none - £10 for the steak which comes with chips and all side salad and trimmings, which I ate every day I stayed there. The portions or quality certainly do not disappoint. There are many options.

The owner, Con, is ever so friendly. He enjoys speaking to all guests and could not have been nicer to us on our trip, indeed all staff were friendly and courteous. I would have no problems in highly recommending the Grand. There is even after hours drinks late at night if you feel the need as we did on the stag do!

The hotel has everything and is an example to other hotels.

Room Tip: I stayed in various different rooms - no experience of a 'bad' one

Staying here tonight for first time.

Lady on reception 11/10.

Hot water at 9pm for a shower = 0. I'll be complaining at 7am if the water is still cold.

Food in bar = good value

Beer = cold a correctly priced.

I'm used to staying at better hotels but for value, service and room; it's more than adequate.

Apart from no hot water.

I would stay again as for a city centre hotel the NCP car park is 100m away and priced good, £6 overnight.

I can't say a bad thing about this place. Rocked up as a backpacker, they cut me a deal on my room which made this place an easy selection. The fine women at the desk also sorted me with another room, once the TV lost it's signal, and was also given a free drink at the bar. This place is a must, and the service was impeccable.

Room Tip: Stay here.

Dear Jared9427

Thanks very much for your review! Glad you enjoyed your stay, as you can see we take the customer experience very importantly. Like you said there are only so many nights you can spend in a hostel so if you are ever back in Swansea don't forget to call back.

I will pass your kind words on to the team.
