Visited the Plough & Harrow, a local pub, on a recommendation from friends. The food and service were excellent but the interior is still that of the old pub. The waiter told us that it would soon close for a full refurbishment to re-open in mid August 2014 as a gastro pub. Once completed I'm sure the Plough and Harrow will be one of the best pubs in Swansea.

Top class service, warm friendly welcome. As others say, they do need to spruce things up. Even revive the table tops by sanding down and varnishing. Could do this by rotation without having to shut restaurant.
Lovely cutlery. Sea bass great and presentation good.

Yes, please keep your standards up and just think of innovative ways of upgrading the restaurant without having to remodel entirely. Well done!

my wife and i tried the new restaurant at the plough and harrow.we each tried a different seafood starter,both were excellent.the cod and chips was good and excellent value.the down side was that they had lost our reservation but fitted us in.the dining area was clean but very tired and desperately needs a sympathetic renovation.

I live locally, and had eaten there occasionally, but the food was poor, and the place run down. I took my family there a few days ago, having heard it was under new ownership, and found that the food had improved tremendously - the decor is still sad. Fix that, and you have the kind of eating establishment that this area has been just crying out for.
Two of us had the belly pork - yum!, and the others had the roast sirloin of beef - very good. The puds were lovely. Service was good too.
The waiter gave us a card as we left. It asked us to leave an honest review on Tripadvisor - so here it is, honest and meant constructively. Just a couple of negatives.... No stuffing on one of the pork dishes ( realised after we'd left). Plenty of delicious gravy on the beef dishes, but very slightly lacking on the pork - ran out before we'd finished. We all agreed that, although the amount of meat on each plate was fine, there was insufficient veg, and therefore the meals were on the light side for Sunday lunch - so our suggestion? More veg please, and the waiting staff could ask patrons if they'd like more gravy! Otherwise most enjoyable!!!

We passed this pub on our way to Caswell Bay. Since we were on holiday and had no intention of cooking we thought we would give this pub a try. Excellent service - all young lads waiting on tables and serving who were very polite and attentive. The pub has a very decent Shiraz on offer and the standard of the food was of restaurant quality. I can recommend the fish & chips and the belly pork and my husband enjoyed the sea bass so much he had it two nights running. The guys told us that the pub is due to shut for re-furbishment but finding it difficult to close as they are always fully booked. Testament within itself. We will definitely be going back when we next visit the Gower.
