We booked in advance and got rooms for £29 per night (minimum 2 night stay required). Unbelievably good value.
The rooms were spotless and fairly well equipped- with freeview tv, free tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer etc. Toiletries were basic (built in) but fine. Good easy to control shower, lovely and hot and quite powerful although bathroom was small.
Check-in had a slight delay while reception staff were checking what rooms were ready but the staff were so polite and friendly that a slight delay wan't an issue.
This hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing, shopping and nightlife. It can be noisy at night although local pubs and clubs shut at 1pm so there isn't all night noise. It didn't keep me awake but if you are a very light sleeper and plan on an early night, you would need to take this into consideration.
There are several local cafes nearby but we had the in-house continental breakfast on Sunday morning (when most other cafes aren't open) and were very pleasantly surprised - and again great value. Excellent choice of cereals - boxes of kellogs, weetabix, plus granola and add-ons (raisins, apricots etc etc), little muffins, croissants, toast, yoghurts, fresh fruit salad, tea, coffee - as much as you want for £5.25.
All in all a great stay at unbeatable value.
