We had a short time in Belfast and wanted to make the most of our time. They had a busy day and fitted us in on our requested time. Kieran was our driver and picked us up at our hotel. He explained things clearly before we left on the tour and as we travelled, explained details on the history and current happenings. He told us some of his life and was a very engaging gentleman. Loved the tour -thank you Kieran.

We chose this tour because we only had one evening in Belfast and wanted to get a "street level" tour from a local. Our driver, Sam, spent time before we left giving us background information about the Troubles, asked us what we knew about the history of the conflict and told us exactly what we'd be seeing. We spent time walking around neighborhoods on both sides of the Peace Wall and he gave a very balanced account of what both sides inflicted and endured. It was intense, but we felt safe everywhere we went. We were there in early July, so we saw the giant pallet towers being built for the July 11 bonfires. Signing the Peace Wall was emotional. After spending just a couple hours with Sam, we felt we really learned so much about the history of this beautiful city, from one of its proud sons.

When we booked to go on the taxi tour, we did not expect to get the boss. We were delighted that we did indeed get the boss. Paddy picked us up at our hotel and for the next ninety minutes we were taken down the Falls and Shankill Roads and to the Peace Wall, all areas familiar to us only from the images shown on television. The Troubles were a difficult time for a city divided and throughout this tour, Paddy ensured that we were given the history of those times as seen by both sides. This tour was informative and at times quite emotional. Paddy was fantastic and it is no surprise that his taxi tour is the top attraction in Belfast. I cannot praise this tour enough and if you only do one thing in Belfast, this should be it.

This 90-minute tour is an excellent introduction to the troubles (past, present and future) of Northern Ireland. Our driver/guide, William (aka Liam) was a well-informed and non-partisan facilitator taking us through Falls and Shankhill Roads, and surrounding neighbourhoods. We didn't leave Belfast inspired with condfidence however; it still appears that centuries of past misdeeds (real and imagined) will be addressed in the years to come as both sides still learn to let go, and grow.

Tour focused on the murals in the protestant section and the "peace wall". Really nailed home that it is going to take a long time before their is true peace in Belfast. We took this tour the day after we were in Derry, and it really seemed like Derry was moving past the Troubles more quickly than Belfast.
