“Nothing remotely 'gourmet' about the burgers served in 2011”
Reviewed 30 August 2011

I visited the Gourmet Burger Bank on the Belmont Road this weekend and it was a massive disappointment. Having visited the restaurant a number of times since it opened we'd simply expected good quality burgers. Sadly the restaurant served up very poor meals. The burgers had a highly-processed taste, texture and appearance, and frankly were like something bought from a budget supermarket range. They were honestly terrible. I suspect the restaurant has reduced it's overheads & costs by doing this, but it's surely a false economy.

The sides were also soggy and very undercooked, so we returned these to the kitchen. The staff were helpful and obligating, and replaced our sides, but they still were still very poor. The front-of-house is excellent, with very friendly staff, an excellent room, and games for the kids, but the Gourmet Burger Bank has got the basics wrong in the kitchen.

“Most Welcoming restaurant in Belfast?”
Reviewed 10 November 2009

Gourmet Burger "Bank" opened several years ago in a building that was for years a local branch of TSB / First Trust Bank.
Don't be put off by the name, the restaurant serves more than just burgers and each "burger" can be ordered without the bread and comes with a salad instead. This simple idea along with fish and chips and daily specials makes for a good varied menu. The chicken with satay sauce is good!
Although not a parent myself, I can see that the Burger Bank is excellent for families and caters a lot for children supplying everything from high chairs to toys. If you want a quieter romantic setting, eat slightly later. If you don't mind a wooden toy landing in your dinner, the atmosphere is still good at early tea time.
Gourmet Burger Bank is staffed with a variety of nationalities from locals, to Eastern Europeans and Australians. Wherever the staff come from, it is clear that only the friendliest are chosen which makes for a very welcoming experience.
Overall, this is a clean, friendly establishment serving good food and is ideal for families, large groups or even a romantic meal for two.
