“Good but not great”
Reviewed 22 July 2012

We dined at Jaharna based on several recommendations from locals. The facility was very modern and clean. Service was prompt and attentive. We asked several questions and received detailed answers and offers to prepare the dishes more to our liking. A big plus for this effort! Our meal was good and we enjoyed a well priced bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to accompany. Certainly I would recommend Jaharna to anyone in the area looking for a quality Indian meal. However, in comparison to truly great Indian food, I would have to rate this as good but not great.

“Consistent, good quality Indian”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

One of Belfast's pricier Indians, Jharna has built a deserved reputation for quality and consistency. It's a typical menu -- they don't pretend that what they're serving is in any way authentic, instead emphasising the quality of what goes in. It's a strategy that seems to work. European staples for mains mixed with just enough fiddly Bollywood to stop the chef throwing a strop.

Lamb was proper, sweet off-the-bone stuff. Chicken likewise. The Bhuna sauce was tasty, but needed less salt and more heat and texture.

Someone below said they found a slug in their Jharna starter. I ate a slug when I was six years old. If I were to repeat the experience, I'd definitely ask for it to be prepared in this kitchen.

“Great service and food.”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

Have a sit in meal and a takeaway from this restaurant. The sit in meal was great. Great starters (chicken tikka and aloo chatt) and wonderful main courses (korma and chicken tikka masala with naan bread). The complimentary Baileys at the end of the meal was a great touch.

The time I had take away though we had to wait around an hour and a half for it to arrive as they were very busy which was disappointing. Would definitely return but would probably not order take away again.
