Always a good idea to visit this wee gem when in Belfast. Has lost none if its old world charm and is the same as it was 30 years ago when visiting as a teenager. Great Guinness and atmosphere. Oddly enough. ..never have tried the food. Friendly chatty staff.

Stop for a pint...or two. Enjoy the atmosphere. This is a must visit, if your expectations are properly for a genuine Irish pub.

It was crowded, loud and dirty, but still a charming and friendly place where you meet the Belfast natives in all ages. The night we visited the pub a single guitarist were playing and singing all kinds of pop- and rock tunes in front of a cheering and dancing audience. Here we met this young man who promised he could arrange, deliver and/or serve us with whatever we needed for our stay in Belfast. We didn't make use of his offer :-)

Eat the hearty potato stew, then enjoy real Irish comraderie. Inside and outside both. Neighborhood a bit dicey, but not if you go with someone.

I went to the Irish traditional music session here this Wednesday night past.

I've been to a lot of traditional music sessions. This was one of the best. As a non drinker you can be assured that this opinion is not clouded by beer goggles.

The musicians would all have been under 30. Fantastic skills for such a young bunch. The sheer competence and joy with which they played is a refreshing change from the technically brilliant but jaded musicians one encounters so often.

For skillful, joyful and unrestrained Irish traditional music I'll be going back to Kellys on a Wednesday night.
