Hilton Belfast
Ranked #20 of 45 Hotels in Belfast
Reviewed 7 October 2009

This was our fourth visit to the Belfast Hilton and it has improved with every stay.

There really isn't anything negative to say. We arrived well before check in time but that was no problem. After a very friendly heartfelt welcome we unpacked in a superb corner suite with views over the Lagan and the riverside. We enjoyed delicious sandwiches in Cables Bar before heading into town, a leisurely 10 mins stroll away. The hotel is in the quiet area of town but is an easy walk from, shops, bars and tour pick up points.

All of the hotel staff pay great attention to detail - as a birthday surprise a bottle of wine appeared in the room whilst we were out., courtesy of Damian the charming Reception Manager. Mary in the executive lounge and her colleague on breakfast service took time to chat and tell us about places worth visiting which we hadn't already seen.

Breakfast is unhurried and the food quality very good - if theres something you would like that isn't readily available (although the range is so varied it would be hard to know what that would be ) the chefs will do their best to make you what you want.

The rooms are very comfortable and the hotel, in the Hilton style has a luxurious and comfortable feel.
We had an early evening flight but checked out mid morning and left our luggage at the hotel which allowed us to enjoy another day in brilliant Belfast before leaving for the airport.

If you are thinking about visitng Belfast just go; stay at the Hilton ;relax with the friendliest people on earth (outside of North East England!) you won't be disappointed.

For a gourmet dinner visit Tedfords;for quirky visit Made in Belfast - food in each is delightful or if its raining, an occaisional event in Northern ireland! stay indoors and dine in Sonoma at the Hilton - whichever you choose you'll come home heavier!!

A Hilton hotel - not much more to say really. Concierge staff were very helpful - better than many.

We'll be back again for a longer stay next time.

Stayed here with my Wife on a shopping weekend. Its a difficult Hotel to describre as nothing is Poor but nothing is Great. Everything is OK but I would expect better as this Hotel is advertised as a 5 Star but in my opinion its a great 3 Star or and Average 4 Star. Rooms are Clean but dated. Parking is a rip off at £18 per night but that seems to be the going rate in Belfast. Prices for food and Drink are over and above what you would expect to pay Locally and if this was a 5 Star Hotel I wouldnt mind paying them but its not, We had Dinner in the Restaurant but the Food again was overpriced and Average and the Service wasnt great. I have stayed in a number of Hotels in Belfast and this Hotel would not be on my list of places to stay again unless we got a good deal on the Rooms. However if I was going to the Waterfront for a Show this is the Ideal Base as its directly opposite the Main Enterence. Staff at the Front Desk were Helpfull and friendly. Overall average and nothing to write home about

Top marks for the position - our room was overlooking the River Lagan - very nice view - Very central for the city centre - walking distance about 5 minutes - no passing road traffic notice but the downside was that we were near the railway lines and on the flight path from the city airport - but you did get used to the noise.
top marks for the breakfast - food was very tasty and a lot of choice. buffet style - you could eat as much as you wanted.
top marks for the staff - we found the staff very helpful and any problem/queries we had were sorted out immediately. We even had a fire alarm - and this was carried out very efficiently.
top marks for the room which was very clean and neat and tidy, with lovely Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries. the only down side was that the furniture could have been a bit more modern - but what we had was OK.
we will certain stay there again if we visit Belfast again.

The Hilton Belfast was an excellent choice for a short break in this fascinating city.
The reception area is light and airy and the staff at the check-in are friendly and courteous. The room was modern in design and a good size. There was a great view over the city and the River Lagan. The bathroom was also a good size and very well-appointed.
We had booked half-board and would recommend this very highly. The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast with a very good choice. In the evening, there is an à la carte menu with a wonderful selection. The quality of the dinner is tremendous. Of particular mention would be the restaurant manager - Christine - who made us feel extremely welcome. This made a real difference to our stay.
The location is very good and is in easy walking distance from the main shopping area and attractions.
Next to the lobby is a nice bar with reasonably-priced drinks - this is well worth a visit.
I would have no problem in recommending this hotel and I would certainly return.

Been here before when it first opened, which was not a good experience, but decided to give the Hilton another chance on a trip to Belfast this week.

What a mistake. In one of the 'refurbished' rooms we had a cracked wash hand basin with the cracks old enough to be ingrained with dirt, half a roll of toilet paper, no tissues, one small bar of soap between two people, and only one bath towel. When my wife went to have a bath she found the plughole blocked with human hair. The maintenance man came and extracted enough hair to make a small wig and was so disgusted by this and the fact that the bath itself had not been cleaned that he himself called the duty manager.

The manager came up and also expressed disgust at the appalling collection of old hair, and offered to move us to another room or have dinner with his compliments, but we had already eaten and were too tired to move so we settled for a free bottle of sparkling water.

That night I had to put a towel over the pillows on the bed as I could smell someone's else's scent or perfume from them. (And I have an awful sense of smell.)

Breakfast in our room was awful (and expensive). The eggs appeared to have been fried in dirty oil or fat, and were covered in black and brown specks of indeterminate origin and age. The toast did not look or taste as if it had been made from bread at all, but from some special artificial substance with no texture or flavour.

We complained about the whole experience again when checking out, and while the front desk staff were most courteous, there was of course no offer to make any concession on our bill. But they implored us to 'give them another chance' on a future visit.

We will not ever, ever be giving them another chance. Twice is plenty, thanks.

(Oh, and 15 pounds sterling to park your car for the night.)
