“Best B&B in Belfast”
Reviewed 18 June 2011

There wasn't any thing about Bienvenue that could be complained about. From the second my girlfriend and I showed up, to the second we left, we were both incredibly pleased with the whole experience.

We did not make any reservations and just decided to show up to Belfast and 'wing it'. Thru asking around, we ended up at Bienvenue. When we arrived, Brie the guesthouse manager, welcomed us in immediately. We were allowed to go and see the vacant rooms and pick the one we wanted. We stayed in the room on the top floor with the double bed. It was a great room with a great view! Beautiful, clean and COMFORTABLE bed. We did not have a bathroom in the room, but it was only right outside the front door. The room had free wifi access which made making future travel plans easier.

The neighborhood was luxurious. Bienvenue is located about three blocks from Queens University, the Botanical Gardens, and Ulster Museum (which is free!). And is about a 20 minute walk to get to city hall in the city center. The street Bienvenue is on has many of the professors from the university living there. So in other words the location is perfect!

One of the best parts of our stay was Brie, the guesthouse manager. She is a one of a kind person to get. She made a scrumptious English breakfast each morning. Which was offered however you like it. She makes the best English breakfast ever. She will accommodate to vegetarians as well. She gave suggestions of things to do in the area, and also had a map for us. She gave us a great rate on our room and was always given top rate service.

Brie gets five stars, and Bievenue gets five stars. Well done...

My family and I stayed at Bienvenue Guesthouse in March 2011. The manageress, Bree could not be more helpful or accomodating with explaining what was available in the local area by way of tourist attractions and restaurants. She welcomed us warmly and offered a cup of tea - something sadly lacking at most other B&B's in recent times. She was kind to our children and most accomodating of them at breakfast, in particular.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. It is close to many restaurants in a quiet part of town. Parking at the B&B is good. In summary, a pleasant B&B experience with a charming hostess.

Room Tip: quiet residential area, off main road.

Like another reviewer, we were met with the voice through the door. Hand poked round the door with our key. We were pleasantly surprised with our room with ensuite. Little TV and tea & coffee in the room. No soap provided so bring your own. Full cooked breakfast was grand and as much good coffee as you want. Brie, the manager, is a bit eccentric and quirky but has a heart of gold. She'll do anything for you. Close to buses. You need the 8b or 8c. DO NOT get the 8a!!! Get the bus back from the left hand side of the city hall (as you look at it). Highchair was provided for our baby and this place is baby friendly. We thoroughly reccommend this B&B. Oh, and plenty of parking round the back.

The Bienvenue as a guesthouse was charming, spacious and beautiful. The hosting however could only be described as scatty! A bit hard to describe, but the Review 'Where do I begin?' gets the feel of it. To say on serving breakfast 'I've just had to heat it up in the microwave' - gives the vibe. Some things are better not said. And the said breakfast was far inferior to all the other sumptuous breakfasts we experienced throughout the North of Ireland.

I stayed here as a solo traveller and it was ace. From the first preliminary phone call I found the experience nurturing and caring and it was obvious that Brie would go the extra mile. I also liked the look of the place on the Internet and was not disappointed in real life - the decor is elegant and stylish. When I got there I found great service, great conversation and in particular tourist information dispensed in a frank and hilarious fashion - you know you are getting the real deal! Miriam works hard to ensure the place is spotless and even arranges the towels like a 5-star hotel would do. It is set in a lovely location, very quiet even though you are in a big city. In short, I arrived as a stranger and left as a friend. I can't wait to go back . Please stay there when you visit Belfast.

I've now stayed at Bienvenue three times and keep returning as it's such a great place to stay. A beautiful Edwardian house in a lovely neighbourhood, the rooms are spacious and always immaculate. What really makes the visit is the attentiveness of the land lady, Brie. She is hugely accommodating with regard to arrival times, breakfast and just generally helpful. While she is warm and friendly, she is highly professional and respects your privacy. The food is great and the city centre is within easy walking distance. I have met many guests who return regularly which says more than any glowing review!
