“Made our weekend that much better”

My boyfriend and I used the Tara Lodge as part of his Christmas present we had tickets for Cage Fighting in the Odessey Arena. We did arrival at little early for check-in which we were aware of but the hotel did have facilities we could store our baggage until check-in. The girl on the desk suggested some of the local places we could go for food and drink pass the time which we thought was very helpful. When we came back we were checked in by Claire who was just fabulous, she was helpful and friendly and everything you would love to see in hotel receptionist. We asked her about good bars and restaurants around, she took out a map and a guide book and highlighted areas on the map for us and offered to book us into anywhere we might like to go. Claire was just fantastic. Our room was lovely warm and so clean beyond anywhere we stayed before, I did drop my earring under the bed and there was not a spec of dust even under there. The bed was so comfy we both slept like babies. Breakfast was between 8:30-10:30 and was jus gorgeous Chris had a full Irish and I had poach eggs on toast could fault it at all plus the breakfast staff we so attentive with refills and anything else you wanted. I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone it's warm friendly and comfy and the staff are just fantastic and located in perfect place.

Stayed one night between a trip to the north coast and seeing friends in Portadown. Staff was excellent and very helpful: gave us a very detailed map and showed us all the big things to see and how to get there, called for a pickup for the bus tour of the city. Parking lot is tight but parking is free so that's a plus; it is first come, first serve so it could fill up if you get there late. We arrived around 2pm on a Friday and got the last spot. Our room was In the Annex building next door which was fine but no elevator there, just FYI. Room was nice and clean. It's is close to Queens university so the street was a little loud given it was a weekend night but the street is more of a connector to a bigger road with lots of restaurants (no nightclubs, just places to eat) so it quieted down early enough. About a 15 minute walk to city hall and the main tourist/ shopping areas. Breakfast was very good. I would stay here again.

What a great hotel! Rooms are spotless.. Very roomy and so clean. Staff can't do enough for you so helpful, so friendly. Great cooked breakfast in the morning. Ideal location.. Shops only walking distance. Good rates on the hotel if you book early. Overall this is a high quality 4 Star hotel.

We booked Tara lodge for our engagement weekend and valentines weekend. Unfortunately this was an awful experience. The breakfast was great but the room was small and extremely noisy. We were beside the lift so we could here it every time someone used it and our bed was beside the corridor so we heard everyone coming and going all night. After basically no sleep we could hear other guests using the toilets and showers. We moved it another room on the second night, it was quieter however we were woken by noise from showers in other rooms. The man on reception was exceptionally nice however our whole experience of Belfast was ruined as we were exhausted from no sleep.

Dear kathy2930

All the team here at Tara Lodge were really disappointed to hear of your disappointment. We knew it was a special weekend for you both after your recent engagement and we had hoped you both would have had a fabulous time celebrating in Belfast. Unfortunately when you made your reservation, the room in which you stayed was our last room available due to the high demand over Valentines weekend. We did reduce the cost of your first nights’ accommodation in light of your distress and we moved you to another, quieter room for your second night.

I’m delighted that you enjoyed your breakfast and found our front desk staff to be exceptionally nice. We would love to welcome you back to Tara Lodge to make sure your next experience of Belfast is much better.

Thanks again for your review.

My boyfriend booked for us to stay here on a Saturday night as an early birthday present for me, and we were thoroughly impressed from the moment we arrived. Upon arrival we were greeted by (?) Paula, the Manageress, who could not have been more helpful. We had been given a room in the annex - which is actually an adjoining terraced house that has been converted into rooms. She escorted us personally after explaining about breakfast etc, and offered to make dinner reservations if necessary.

The room, like the rest of the property, was tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and warm. We had a room overlooking the street, which was fine and we didn't hear any traffic noise. The bed is very comfortable and the Nespresso machine is a nice touch along with the normal tea and coffee making facilities. Our room didn't have a bath, but had a large shower which was fine. I noticed a sign at reception that offered an upgraded room for an extra £20, but I can't comment on this further as we didn't enquire, but certainly, for the price my boyfriend paid for us to include breakfast was great value for money.

The breakfast is really excellent. You help yourself to cereal/yoghurt/fruit and then have a choice of hot options that are cooked to order. There is a good selection and it is really, really tasty and well presented. We both had the traditional breakfast which was scrumptious, but there are other options such as power porridge, poached eggs, etc.

Nothing is too much trouble for the staff here, who are friendly, approachable and professional. It was a pleasure to stay here and we would recommend to anyone. They all go the extra mile and it really makes for a lovely wee gem of a place to stay.

There is no on site restaurant for evening meals or a bar, but this is irrelevant as once you hit the end of the road you are in the Botanic area where all the good restaurants are anyway! The hotel also has deals with several of these where you receive discount as guests of Tara Lodge. We went to Scalini - great if you love Italian food.

In short - don't think about booking this accommodation - do it!

Room Tip: Don't be concerned about being offered the annex - it's great!

Dear colinsgal

Thank you for such an amazing, comprehensive review – what a great overview of your experience at Tara Lodge! We recently refurbished our Annex building and I’m so pleased that you found the rooms warm, comfortable, welcoming and with all the facilities a guest might need. As you mentioned in your review our Annex rooms now offer 40inch flatscreen TVs with inbuilt DVD player (DVD library available at reception), Nespresso coffee makers and Bluetooth speakers in addition to all the other in-room comforts.

Our chef is delighted that you found the breakfast excellent and our team are so pleased that you felt they went the extra mile. It really is the aim of each and every one of us at Tara Lodge to offer the best customer service possible in the hope that each one of our customers will leave looking forward to their next stay with us.

Thanks again for your review.

We loved this place - rooms were comfy and clean, staff was friendly, and the breakfast was most excellent! It was about a 10-15 walk from the Dublin-Belfast bus stop, and the neighborhood has lots good and inexpensive places to eat and little shops to check out. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Belfast.

We looked for a local place that was walking distance to the Belfast City Center (so as to avoid the noise of those busy streets). We are regular walkers so this location was perfect. Lots of restaurants and shops down the block.
The reception staff were consistently friendly and helpful. We wanted to book a day trip online and had some difficulty reaching the tour company so they offered to help us...they called the tour company the next morning and made all the arrangements for us. They even arranged for the day tour to pick us up from the Tara Lodge so we wouldn't have to rush through breakfast to get to the tour starting point. They also forewarned us that the tour company only takes cash when booking by phone so we were prepared.

The bed was comfy, the room quiet and the wireless worked fine. The breakfast service was outstanding. They accommodated our dietary requests and were food allergy aware. The food was yummy.
When we travel we generally get our workout by walking all around the city we are in.....(We walked all the way to the Titanic Museum, saw the exhibits and walked back.)

Would stay here again for sure.
Thank you to the staff for your attentiveness.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room when making the booking and got one.
