“For me, best pub in Belfast.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2010

Visited 6 pubs during my stay, but this on is the best. The front part of Robinson is a stylish, shiny bar, very pleasant, actually. But traditional music takes place at the back, at the Fibber Magees. Good trad music, people dancing with whoever wanted to dance. I was on my own, but very soon people were talking to me, very friendly. I concur with the other positive reviews. Decor is a century + old general store, very inspiring. I also went at lunch time on a Sunday, it was calm, but I could study the decor even better. Very successful atmosphere. The fireplace very nice too. If I was a local, I would go there every week. Nothing wrong about food.
By the way, the front part of Robinson's has interesting memorablia of the Titanic. Well displayed and interesting. The type of place (front part and back part complement each other) that a traveller is looking for. It is right next door to the Crown Saloon.

“Trully revolting breakfast”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2009

Was enticed one morning by the Robinson's 'Bistro' "Brunch Menu" advertised... Their (£6.50) 'Eggs Benedict' is one of the worst offerings I've presented with in a good while. Advirtised as being served on on 'Granary Bread' the luke-warm orbs arrived (eventually!!) on cold, soggy sliced white toast, covered in a rancid tasting saucewhich left an after-taste in mouth for the rest of the morning. The 'complimentary' coffee never materialised, but we were frankly glad to one our way. There's so many places that delicious cooked breakfasts can be found cheaply in Belfast...don't be tempted into Robinson's to try and find them!

“cheap enough food but unpleasant staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2008

been here a few times and food was good and so was service, but this time staff were very unpleasant. Seem to panic if more than a few tables are occupied. They can hardly give you time to look at the menu and arnt pleased if you tell them you would like a few more minutes. better restaurants nearby which might be more expensive but worth it

“fibber magees”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 November 2008

What an atmosphere, must be one of the most friendly bars in Belfast. A fantastic mix of people al wanting to have a great time and wanting you to join them in achieving it. If you cannot have a good time here you need to see someone fast.

“An American who used to live in Belfast perspective”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2003

What can I say about Robinsons? It is a dive but all the tourists go there thinking it is the only Irish bar in Belfast. It is a great place to go to become part of the ONE flesh experience of Irish clubs. You won't walk away sober, you can't.You walk into this bar. The music is bad but infectious. You sit alone but in 15 minutes time you are sitting with people you don't know who are your new best friends. Robinsons is the place for single people, travelers who want to meet locals, locals who want to meet travelers, Protestants and Catholics to drink together, in somewhat harmony. The music is bad, the food is bad, the beer is great. The service is slow. The people are wonderful. Are you looking for action? Go to Robinsons, start you Belfast experience at Robinsons, then as you get more drunk, more progressive, let the night take you away. This is not a quaint Irish bar. It is mostly people in their 30s, some in their 40s, who want to rub against people of the opposite sex, even for a brief time. Let it happen. Kiss the Protestant girl who looks 23 but is really a mother of 4 and is 35. Eat you heart out in this wonderful hedonistic experience.Enjoy until the last drop. Fibber Maggees is in the back. It is empty until the night, when it always fills, and it fills completely, and people dance badly and drunkenly. Just dance. Dance with whoever wants to dance. Drink so much you can't move. This is Belfast. Leave your girlfriend in the hotel room and party with that Swedish girl who you can't help but want to.LET BELFAST TAKE YOU!Amen
