“Nice Corporate Hotel”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

My Wife, my two toddlers and I stayed here for 4 nights as we were attending a wedding locally. We had a family room on the 1st floor, which was convenient for the more formal dinning restaurant (where breakfast is served) which is also also on the first floor. The continental breakfast is pretty good value with plenty for kids. The evening options are the 1st floor restaurant which at the time of writing was a mixture of curry and English options and the ground floor bar area serving more pubby food. The restaurant does not open until 7 and so kids dinning is in the bar, which has 3-4 options for kids. Coming from London we thought that the food and the drink were pretty reasonably priced although there is not a great deal of choce (they have two red and two whites by the glass). We had breakfast and our evening meal in the hotel each night, and the food was ok (nothing to complain about but nothing to write home about either. There are not many other options in the immediate vicinity apart from the Lock Keeper's Inn which has good brunch and sandwich options and is also on the canal walk to the City Centre.

Room itself was a decent size (room for a double, a single and a travel cot), clean and had a good shower. We also used the pool a couple of times which was great. Hotel is part of a large chain and is smart, modern and functional in style and so of course lacks the charm of a more boutique establishment.

Staff were generally pretty friendly and helpful. Jamal who managed the dinning room on a couple of occasions was particularly helpful, although some of his staff were a little less proactive. We also had a large group us in the bar on one of the evenings ordering drinks and food and the staff (of which only a few were on) were really helpful and gave excellent service.

Overall it is a good place to have a short stay with a young family.

Hi everyone
I recently stayed at the Ramada plaza Belfast for 2 nights. On arrival I was greeted well but was asked for a £50 security deposit. As I was on a tight enough budget I found this a big expense. So on arrival I was out £230 before I got to the room. When we got to the room we were pleased with the size of the room, television and bed. When we were getting into bed my wife noticed that there was a stain on the pillow and the under side of the throw. Nobody is perfect and we didn't want to complain about something small Like this so we removed the throw and pillow off the bed. We had a room which connected with the room next to us and we were woken twice during the night by the people in the room beside us. The next morning we went down for breakfast and have no complaint about the breakfast nor the staff. We went back to the room and got freshened up and went into the city Centre for a couple of hours. On returning we noticed the room had been cleaned and didn't think anymore about the bed. But on the second night we were going to bed and my wife noticed that the same stain was on the pillow and the throw. On closer inspection of the bed we noticed that there was also a lipstick mark on one of the cushions that match the throw, what looks to be an excrement mark on the throw and the hole underside of the throw was totally covered in stains which I thought was disgusting. I have attached the photos which I was just going to put on trip advisor but my wife told me to give the manager the benefit of the doubt which I was doing but the email address that is on the website says it is not recognised or valid.

Will try and put up some photos.

Must comment on the bar staff at a wedding I attended on sat 21st September, on arrival at the hotel was greeted by waitress who was pleasent, helpful and professional. This was at 2 pm and at 4am (14 hours later) she was still the same. Made an unbelievable day at the wedding that wee bit more special and she has to be commended for it. Samantha - an asset to any business.

First arrived in the hotel and the carpet was dirty, Blonde hairs on the floor.. (I'm a brunette) Carpet just looked so dirty. Found a toe nail on the bed and on the bedside table! Went to the restaurant, my partner ordered a chicken dish that was so small a 5 year old wouldn't have been full after eating it.. The next day we went to the bar to order food.. 2 soup and sandwich took over 30 mins to arrive and the soup tasted like it was pure salt.. Egg salad sandwich consisted of a piece of lettuce, a red onion and egg, (this is not salad). The bread was hard so was pretty obvious it had been sitting out and wasn't fresh! We were in a connecting room (room 129) and could hear everything. When I rang (twice) to complain I was told the lady next door had a hearing problem. Unfortunately that isn't mine or my partners problem. We don't need to hear you singing or shouting at the tv. Rooms are not 1 bit sound proof. Very disappointed stay! The rooms are nice and spacious its just a pity they were unclean

Dear Sazza

Thank you for writing your review during your recent stay with us at The Ramada Plaza Belfast.
It is with great disappointment to hear your comments at this time and are extremely sorry that you encountered this poor housekeeping standards. This is not the normal high standards that The Ramada Plaza delivers and will certainly investigate what happened that you checked into a room that had not been inspected fully. We apologize for the noise level due to the interconnecting room this may have been the only room type available, as we normally would use these for family rooms. We appreciate your feedback on the quality of food you recieved and will ensure this is passed on to our senior chefs attention. Our quality of food and service at the Ramada Plaza is utmost importance so we can ensure these high standards are delivered at all times. We hope this was a one off experience and hope that we can get the chance to prove a much more pleasant experience at The Ramada Plaza in the near future. Stayed a couple of nights at the end of our two weeks in Ireland. The staff was courteous and professional, which we expect, but also warm and friendly - a bonus. The bartender in the Suburban Lounge, Dave, was especially friendly, and patiently explained to us the difference between "British" and "English".

The LA Fitness gym - free to hotel guests - is huge!

Overall a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and a perfect end to our Ireland vacation.

My colleague and myself arrived at 9.45pm, straight from a flight and needing food, only to be told the restaurant was closed, which I understood as it was quite late, so we asked if we could have some food at the bar, only to be told no, if we wanted food we had to have room service.

I asked if we could have the room service in the bar, as we wished to have a drink and chat, to be told not we could only have the food in our rooms, I did think this was a joke, but trust me it wasn't! The chap on reception was pleasant enough and suggested restaurants around four miles away that we would have to get a taxi to, but was pretty disappointed to have to check in, pay £20 for a taxi and travel 20 mins each way just to get some food.

So had to pay premium for a taxi and food, and close to £100 later and close to 1am we managed to get sorted.

The hotel itself seems nice, but having arrived at close to 10pm and then having to trek for food and not getting back until close to 1am, unfortunately we didn't see much of it.

Very disappointed and would look to stay somewhere else next time I am in Belfast, this isn't the short of service I would have e pelted from a ramada hotel.
