We visited Cipriani restaurant as part of a Groupon deal (booked by a friend) which included "Italian style" tapas and a free glass of Prosecco.
If this hadn't been prepaid, I probably would have walked out on entering the restaurant. (something incidentally, we noticed another couple doing after arriving at their table) The restaurant was quite large, but with a low ceiling which meant it was very noisy. There were four of us, but seated at a round table for six, and we couldn't speak to each other without having to raise our voices.
The Prosecco arrived and wasn't really to our taste. This may be due to the fact we aren't really Prosescco connoisseurs, but it just tasted like perry to us.
After ordering, it took nearly three quarters of an hour for the tapas to arrive. During this time, we asked our waiter for some drinks. He looked confused at the request and wasn't aware of what bottled beers were available. He was either not very good or very new to the job. We waited for about fifteen minutes and another waiter arrived with some of our drinks order and an apology. The remainder of this was re-ordered and then served very promptly. I did notice waiting staff at other tables being more attentive, so we were possibly just unlucky with the service.
When the food eventually arrived it was just about edible, but wasn't great. The olive oil on the table was from Tescos. One would have thought if they were buying from here, they would have at least served it in a glass jug.
The restaurant was very busy, so it may be that we just had a bad experience and are a little too fussy, but I certainly didn't see anything that would inspire me to return to give it a second chance.
