“Disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2012

We visited Cipriani restaurant as part of a Groupon deal (booked by a friend) which included "Italian style" tapas and a free glass of Prosecco.

If this hadn't been prepaid, I probably would have walked out on entering the restaurant. (something incidentally, we noticed another couple doing after arriving at their table) The restaurant was quite large, but with a low ceiling which meant it was very noisy. There were four of us, but seated at a round table for six, and we couldn't speak to each other without having to raise our voices.

The Prosecco arrived and wasn't really to our taste. This may be due to the fact we aren't really Prosescco connoisseurs, but it just tasted like perry to us.

After ordering, it took nearly three quarters of an hour for the tapas to arrive. During this time, we asked our waiter for some drinks. He looked confused at the request and wasn't aware of what bottled beers were available. He was either not very good or very new to the job. We waited for about fifteen minutes and another waiter arrived with some of our drinks order and an apology. The remainder of this was re-ordered and then served very promptly. I did notice waiting staff at other tables being more attentive, so we were possibly just unlucky with the service.

When the food eventually arrived it was just about edible, but wasn't great. The olive oil on the table was from Tescos. One would have thought if they were buying from here, they would have at least served it in a glass jug.

The restaurant was very busy, so it may be that we just had a bad experience and are a little too fussy, but I certainly didn't see anything that would inspire me to return to give it a second chance.

“A welcome new addition.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2012

To be perfectly honest, I was not expecting to be impressed, Another Italian restaurant, with another standard Italian menu...but this is better. True, everything that you would expect to be there is on the menu, but the addition of several veal choices, and the Tapas menu set this lively and characterful place apart. The staff are charming and helpful, and the service efficent. We have now visited twice, dining from both the main and tapas menus. The food is nicely presented and tastes good. It is rustic, but then so is most Italian cooking. The oil and vinegar on the table are of good quality, that in itself is a good sign!. The Tapas are what they say they are and are -tasty and fun, and quite a few groups seemed to be enjoying this option.Previous occupants of this site have not enjoyed the success that this Lisburn Road situation should bring, but I think this deserves to do better. Pricing and range of options are good, and above all else, this place, unlike so many Belfast eateries has some personality. Bravo!

“Great Italian food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2012 via mobile

I have been to this restaurant twice in the past month the first time was with a groupon voucher for 2 people for proseco and 5 tapas which was great value at £16 and the food was excellent. The second time i went there we sat in the main restaurant and had carbonara which was £8.50 for an extremely small portion I ordered the garlic flat bread which was just aswell , for dessert we had lemon sorbet and choc pudding food was great but slightly over priced for the portions. We went on a mon night and it was so quiet only 3 tables which they had crammed right beside each other. Would return.

“A Great Night Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2012

All headed to Cipriani's on Saturday night, great night, the food was excellent and there was a dj playing on the top floor with some pretty decent tunes. I hope it does really well and this is what Belfast needs - food and dancing in the same place. A great spot for a girls night out.

“Amazing Tapas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

Myself and my wife went to Cipriani on a groupon deal which was 5 tapas items and a glass of Prosecco. We order a extra 3 dishes and some extra drinks.

The atmosphere was really good, some good music was being played by a dj and the decor was very refined. The food was mostly great apart from the risotto balls. Ended the evening with some lemonchello.

I woudl go back for the tapas and would love to experience the main resurant downstairs
