“The Scottsdale Cowboy”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

It's been a year since we were last in Dean's Lisburn Road Eatery and it has under gone a transformation - the food, atmosphere, drinks everything has changed for the better.
We were initially disappointed by our server who said there was no alternative table to the high top that we were offered.....however the manageress saw that we were uncomfortable with our table and within a few minutes she had arranged another table for us.
Our server was not a happy person but again the manageress came to her rescue and presented the friendly and understanding face that was needed in order that we would enjoy our night out.
The food was outstanding - Napoli sausage, tomato bruschetta and two calamari starters were all perfect, followed by three prawn risotto and a goat's cheese rigatoni all of which were well cooked and presented - all in all a great spot to enjoy, well cooked food in a relaxed atmosphere, a Lisburn Road hotspot!!!!!

“Nothing but a name”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

This place was so lacklustre I can barely muster the energy to describe it. Had the goat's cheese rigatoni and my friend opted for beef in a soupy polenta. My pasta sauce was a bit on the sickening side and came with a paltry portion of what were described as "spring vegetables" but turned out to be a few miserable cubes of carrots and a lump of red onion that hadn't even been chopped. The decor and wine were alright, the service not particularly enthusiastic - but I'd be the same if I were working in such an establishment. It's obviously living off the "Deane's" reputation at the moment, but needs to crank it up a few notches if it's to survive on the Lisburn Road.

“A Magnet on Lisburn Road”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

The lure of authentic Italian food is strong. Having eaten here two weeks in a row, this place could become a habit which is hard to break.

Michael Deane sets high standards in all his restaurants and this is no exception.
Pleasing décor, friendly staff, a steady buzz and impeccable food make this a great dining out experience which doesn't disappoint.

“Good but could improve”
Reviewed 2 May 2014

We went on a Thursday for the midweek 3 course menu, which seemed promising. Loud music, though by a very talented local musician so enjoyed it despite not being able to easily talk to my partner.
Starter was delicious, homemade ciabatta garlic bread, the OH got the cod and tomato soup (also served with the ciabatta).
Main of carbonara was nice, but spaghetti not fresh and the sauce a little creamy and unauthentic. OH got chorizo and tomato tagliatelle which went down very well, with the best chorizo of his life (which might say more about their suppliers than their chef).
My dessert of raspberry and chocolate tart was delicious, albeit a little small. The OH ordered lemon panna cotta with meringue topping which ended up being a very cream-heavy dessert served in a school cafeteria-style glass with nice flavour but definitely not panna cotta. He did not finish it, not what he was expecting.

Price was decent, staff were friendly (though when it got busier they forgot us a bit), food was good but not to the standard of other Deane's restaurants that I've been to. A little more gourmet and authentic would be nice.

“Needs to Improve”
Reviewed 29 April 2014

Food was OK but forgettable... Overpriced in my opinion. Waitress was fine... Unlike the unfriendly manageress who excelled in cold derision. Music deafening and inappropriate. Would be extremely reluctant to return, considering Belfast has so many better restaurants where the senior staff are mannerly and where there isn't a ridiculous 10% service charge.
