I stayed here yesterday, and overall the hotel was ok, but my goodness was the room bloody boling, I literally was dripping sweat of my body, I couldn't open the window as it seemed to be stuck! I felt so ill and dehydrated. I would stay here again only if they got a form of air conditioning. Also I would not recommend you going here if it is a hot day and God help anyone staying here on the hottest day of the year, your going to get absolutely roasted!!

Stayed two nights in June. Really friendly staff and personable service. Room was of a very good standard for 80 quid a night including breakie. Bathroom was more basic with a 'normal' rather than luxurious bath and the grouting and tiling needed a refresh. But for the price, amazing value.

Enjoyed breakfast both mornings. Great to have Bircher museli and lovely fresh fruit. Eggs benedict superb, full English less so - think they may have run out of the normal malmaison sausages as the one I had certainly wasn't pork and leek as advertised.

Ok so why not five stars? Well the downside to this hotel is that it's on a very busy road. I was on the top floor and to the side of the building and even then the traffic was noisy beyond midnight. Also the seagulls were incredibly noisy! It wouldn't have been so bad if I could have shut the window but I couldn't because it was incredibly hot and the building doesn't have aircon. But to put this into perspective, 12 June was an incredibly hot day with temperatures above rRo where world cup just started e.g. highly unusual weather for Belfast! So I didn't get much sleep... But not really the hotel's fault.

Hopefully when malmaison next refurb the hotel they will install aircon but appreciate this will be difficult in this lovely period building.

Stayed here many times previously and always loved it, but after my last stay a few days ago I will consider other hotels first.
Booked a deluxe room for a city break with my bf. The room was lovely as always, BUT it was boiling hot! The temperature outside was only about 20degrees at day time, but as soon as you entered the elevator the stuffy hot air was difficult to tolerate. The room was even worse. Our room was out to the court yard and noisy when the windows were open(only open about three inches). The room felt as hot as a sauna, the bathroom like a steam room. There was no fan in the bathroom and although there was a switch for air conditioning in the room, there was no air conditioning installed at all. I asked for another room at reception before we left the hotel to go for dinner, but the receptionist just offered to turn on the fan that was in the press to cool down the room by the time we would return.
We returned six hours later to find that it was still the same. The fan was only blowing the hot air around. Needless to say that we couldn't sleep at all, mainly because of the heat, and second because of the loud noise of the fan. We were close to getting up, leaving and booking into another hotel. The only reason why we didn't was the £109 that we paid.
At check out the receptionist didn't even ask how our stay was, and when I mentioned about the sleepless night, she just said that there's no air conditioning in any of the rooms. There was no apology or understanding from her side. I felt like she was avoiding dealing with it, maybe because it's a common complaint?
Usually I don't even use air conditioning but in this case it would have been the only way to bring the room temperature to a normal level. I must have been lucky the previous times to stay during cold weather, but definitely won't be back anytime soon. Can't even imagine what it's like during a heat wave! For a hotel of this standard air conditioning is a basic requirement.
It's a shame really, because everything else would have been lovely: chocolates at arrival, comfortable bed, nice toiletries, great decor....

The rooms here are dark and quirky. The comments on the toiletries, the guest info sheets etc are very amusing. The room I had was very comfortable with a good size bathroom; however some colleagues had a very small bathroom. The rooms are well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. One small problem was the heat in the room was difficult to control and the room was stuffy.

The restaurant food was excellent. Be careful when you order as you need to order sides and they are pretty expensive. The staff are helpful and courteous and are genuinely interested in helping you enjoy your stay and to enjoy Belfast.

Parking is available about 100mtrs away.

The hotel is centrally located and it is easy walk around the city centre from here.

Room Tip: The rooms are not identical so if you are not happy with the assigned room ask for another.

Booked a night here as a last minute treat, have stayed in Malmaison hotels in other cities and have always been pleased with the standard, Belfast was no exception, happy with the consistently high standard offered.

Room was on the small side compared to some I've stayed in but we were happy as was for just the night.

Malmaison Belfast is as good as other Malmaisons. The location is great as a simple walk gets you into the city centre, a couple of minutes with an easy crossing of the road. Also you can be in good bars in an equal time. Location is perfect. The hotel bar is excellent when we were there with a buzz going into the early ours of the morning. Staff were very helpful and the rooms clean. There was no noticeable aircon in the room and it became a little stuffy. Would be happy to stay again and recommend it to others. Malmaison is a cool chain and there's a little premium in the room rate.

Room Tip: Check out the booking sites for best rate for better rooms.
